Even though the Italian Renaissance started out as an art movement, how did the Northern Renaissance end up as
a religion movement? As some of us know, the Italian Renaissance started in the 1500s. It started out as an artistic movement such as fshion and other types of art, with artists like Leonardo Da Vinci, William Shakespeare, etc. However the Renaissance got spread out to Northern Europe, and the Northern Renaissance was what it was called. With that said, the Northern Renaissance was known for as a Religion movement.

- One of the major motivators for the beginning of the Renaissance was the immense amount of philosophical/religious writings left behind by the vanquished Muslim civilization of Andaluz (Spain). The Muslims had kept and translated thousands of pages of ancient Greek text as well as adding their own commentary. The roman Catholic religious leaders went crazy with excitement when they discovered it. Most of the Greek work was thought to be lost. This event sparked major religious inquiries and reforms.
