2. they are the words that we took from other languages....hi hi hi..i´m from Italy.... yoga, yogurt, yogurteria,yogurtiera,yacht, yeti, yak,yankee, yen, yes-man, yiddish, yield, yorkshire, yo-yo, yuppie, yodel i can´t think about anything else.......right now....
3. There are no pure Italian words that start with 'y'. The only ones we have are from other languages. That's because the Latin language didn't use the letter 'y' in their words, apart from some words directly taken from the greek language, which largely used the letter 'y'. The ones we have in Italian are: yoga, yogurt, yacht, yeti, ying-yang... and the list continues!
4. The letters J, K, W, X and Y are not considered part of the standard 21-letter Italian alphabet, but appear in loanwords such as yacht, yankee, yard, yemenita, yoga, yogurt, yuppie.
