Recommended wine with italian food?
What wine would you recommend with italian food? I am new to wine tasting and flavors. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

- A good Merlot or Cabernet Savingon (spelling?). A full bodied red complements the abundance of flavor in Italian food.
- I really tend to prefer a White Zinfandel when eating Italian.
- Chianti, of course!
- Definitely a red wine w/Italian Food. Merlot would be my choice.
- A good Cabernet.
- If you are new to wine you should try Ruinite Lambrusco, it is sweet but goes well with italian food. If you want something just a bit drier, but still a good, light, easy to drink bottle, try Zenato Valpolicella, it's delicious. And then, of course, Chianti is a classic match, but remember, it's drier. Davinci makes a good chianti.
- If you're talking about pizza or pasta with tomato-based sauce, think Chianti, a red which is made with the Sangiovese grape. For an Alfredo-type cheese sauce dish or fish, try Soave Classico or Orvieto, which are both food-friendly whites.
- Red wine for red sauces and red meats, White for white sauces and white meats. For most pasta, Table wines compliment very well if you are looking for more specific type I would use Cabernet.
- chianti or sangiovese for red and sauvignon blanc or pinot grigio/gris for white. both complement italian food quite well.
