Why Italy

Italian food, I need its name, or how to do it..?

A few months ago I travelled to a country where i ate at an Italian restaraunt, but the food that i ate was the first time for me. I was just looking at the menu and maybe because what was mentioned about the food made me go for it. My question here is, whats the name of the food? I really loved it but i cant rememeber the name. Anyways let me explain what it was. It was an italian dish for sure, which was like rice or looked like one and mixed with white sauce and cheese. If anyone knows please post it here. thanks in advance! :)

  1. I believe you are refering to risotto. Check here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Risotto
  2. It has to be Risotto. As you need to steam the rice when cooked u add , lot of other spices & herbs to it.
  3. The only Italian dish that resembles rice, that I can think of, is risotto. It can be prepared many different ways and is somewhat difficult to make due to the fact that it's "tempermental". If it's undercooked, it's too crunchy. Overcook it only slightly, and it's mush. The rice typically used is called Arborio and is great in a creamy sauce like you mentioned. I'm sure you can find many great recipes on line. Good luck!
  4. mmmmmmm risotto!!! drool Olive Garden actually has a really good shrimp and asparagus risotto. Not as good as homemade but very good.
  5. sounds like risotto
