- Sweet, youre gonna love Italy!!! Just have like a person who can help you translate if you get stuck and buy one of those translation books, they help a lil bit. They trip is kinda long but its a pretty good ride. Ask the hotel service if they can like help you out and around and stuff, they would be glad to help you. Have fun!!!!
- My trip there was beautiful! Some people spoke english but just in case learn a few common phrases.
- Never did Eurofly. Italy however, was a blast. It was just stinkin hot! Spanish and Italian have a few things in common, not much. Buy an English-Italian dictionary and look at http://www.travlang.com/languages, click on the Italian flag, to get a few ideas regarding phrases to learn and to learn how to count *very important when eating*. Also, eat at little shops, not restaurants, most aren't that great. Gelato...I don't care where you go, Gelato is the BEST! It's a type of ice cream they make over there and it's...it's beautiful lol. If you are staying in Rome, it costs money to go in the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain is a MUST see, the Spanish Steps are called that because theya re in front of the Spanish Embassy lol, but still beautiful. Make sure you take as much in as possible!
- spanish and italian are similar but there is also alot of differnets in it. If you know a little than you would only be able to understand 1 or 2 words in a sentence. this is a modern italian movie trailer (check it out so that you can see what they have in common) italian and spanish http://it.youtube.com/watch?v=N1Z1nSS0po4 song is called "Remedios - Gabriella Ferri" do not worry you are going to a tourist place and people there speak english, but learn some basic italian (library have some disc.) i speak fluent spanish and some italian. learned italian that way. Harley is right the galeto are really good and they have them in so many flavors even some you would not think of but they are all good.
- I went to italy during spring break with my school. It was so much fun. Let me tell you, don't try to speak spanish in european countries other than spain. They way we communicated delt with a lot of pointing and screaming in english. We learned one Italian phrase, and we found out at the end of the trip that it meant f*ck off. I would definitely say to watch out for pick pockets, and those d@mn gypsy. They will come up to you out of no where with a picture of their children making the sign of the cross the wrong way begging for euros. We somewhat had free roam around until we had group events. We walked on our free roam and at group events and when we traveled to a different country like from Rome to Switzerland to Italy and all that we took a charter bus. Oh and no drinking age or either the drinking age is 13. We went out and got drunk EVERY NIGHT. I mean not normal drunk i am talking about F*CKED UP drunk. They have pictures of it too. Just be careful with the alcohol over there. We got back and had to go to school the next day and we all still had hang overs, even the adult shaparones and sponsors that went with us. A lot of us snuck all of our alcohol back into the U.S. But it was a lot of fun! And when you are not drunk, make sure you take pictures of everything, every hotel, interesting thing you see, building, city or country signs, bar signs before you enter them, and dance club signs. I am making a scrap book of all of my pictures.
- I m italian and i live in italy. as far as the two languages r concerned(italian and spanish), it is true; they r very similar and most of the words sound the same. People here do not generally speak very good english (to be honest, their english is really bad- expecially their accent), but in most tourist resorts (such as in rome) u wo't have any problems in communicating in english. so do not be worried. if u have any other questions ...just ask ok? one frindly advise : whatch your bag/purse in the subway and expecially on all public means of transport!!
- I recently went to Italy. I cannot comment on Eurofly, but as long as you are polite and try a few Italian words from a phrase book that you have the Italians will appreciate your effort and show that they do speak English. When I was in Rome, just about everyone spoke English. Sadly I didn't need to even practice any Italian. You should make a point to got to the Vatican Museum. It was incredible, just get in line REALLY early. Across the street from the Museum was a fun flea market that sold great casual items that made perfect gifts and souvenirs. Good luck!
