  1. Hi, I'm American but have been in Italy several years now. Well, what exactly do you want to know? Do you want to know how Italian men treat women? It depends on the individual guy. Some are really nice, sweet, and romantic and others aren't. There are some jerks, but every country has them. Italian men tend to like pretty, sweet, intelligent, and easy-going girls....not many of them like the "bit.ches". LOL Some Italian guys will whistle at you or pay you a comment (but they do that to Italian women as well so don't worry).....most Italian guys are pretty shy though. Women work in Italy, so don't expect to find the man that goes out and works and the woman that stays at home. Most couples work and the kids are in daycare or with their grandparents. Hmmm....I don't know what else you would like to know. I hope this helped.
  2. The first section, "Women and the Male Gaze: The Literary and Artistic Heritage", analyses ways in which women were constructed by men through a variety of literary and other discourses, from the Divine Comedy to the twentieth century. The second section, "Tradition and Transformation: Women in Society and the Movement towards Liberation", focuses on definitions by women themselves on their cultural and social identity, and the gradual and at times contradictory evolution of these definitions - changes in women's attitudes towards marriage and the family, proposed reforms to the laws on domestic and sexual violence, and lullabies in Northern and Central Italy as an expression of women's frustration and anger at their position.
