Why Italy

what are some things that are distinctly related to italian culture?

i am doing a project on italy and i am wondering , what are some things that are distinctly italian , such as gestures , clothing , speaking (not in italian) , etc. anything would be helpful really. thanks in advance if you can help :) . ok now this doesnt quite pertain to my question here but....dont mention spaghetti...i find it too common so it had just become an offensive thing to me when people just mention "spaghetti!" at the thought of italians....come on people we are much more well known for more than just frickin spaghetti..i am not just griping here...><. ok now this doesnt quite pertain to my question here but....dont mention spaghetti...i find it too common so it had just become an offensive thing to me when people just mention "spaghetti!" at the thought of italians....come on people we are much more well known for more than just frickin spaghetti..i am not just griping here...><.

  8. Check out the website below, it will give you more than you need for your project.
  9. Hand gestures, gesticulating, is a very Italian trait, and not seen as much in the rest of Europe. An entire conversation can be had with just hand gestures. Though don't know where you'd find examples. The inability to form an orderly queue is definately an Italian cultural thing, as is staring, no one there has ever been told it's rude! The idea of family is very strong in Italy, children are welcome everywhere and are encouraged to be as loud as possible. An Italian family, which can include grandparents, cousins, etc. will all make an effort to sit down to meals together every day. This is usually prepared by the women, and generally consists of the "primo piatto" which is often pasta, followed by "il secondo" usually meat or fish, then a salad or vegetables, evening meals finish with "il dolce" which is all washed down with an espresso coffee to finish. Fascism (Mussolini), and the Pope are pretty much Italian in origin I think. As for clothing, the Italians have a reputation for being stylish... though I'd disagree, they do spent an awful amount of time grooming and preening themselves. Fur coats are still seen as a status symbol, so much for animal rights! hope this has given you some ideas.
  10. DUCATI, APRILLIA, CAGIVA, can't get more italian
