When applying for a passport?
When applying for a passport in the united states, will they give me the number and dates its valid for right away? and then i just wait for my actual passport? or do i have to wait for all of the information until it arrives in the mail? just curious because im traveling to Italy this summer and the program wants my passport number, and im going to apply for my passport tomorrow...will i have to wait for the actual information? Thanks.

- You will have to wait until you get your passport in hand. I suggest that when you apply you request and pay for expedited handling. You merely pay for overnight shipping both ways and you will get your passport in maybe 3 weeks instead of six weeks.
- I'm afraid you'll just have to wait, because the validity date is the date of issue, so you won't know until you get it.
- Apply as soon as possible. Mine is somewhere in the application process. The web site says that it will be 10 to 12 weeks for mine.
- Unfortunately, you'll have to wait to have the passport in hand. The number and valid date is effective when it's processed by the State Department. If you're really pressed for time, pay the extra fee to expedite the processing.
- You will have to wait until you actually receive your passport. I would suggest that you definitely apply now if you are traveling over the summer, they are currently averaging 10 weeks to get a passport. If you need more information about passports you can go to this site: http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html Hope this helps and have a great trip!
- Unfortunately, no. The people who accept your application are unable to determine what your passport number or validity dates will be. You'll have to wait until you receive it.
