What is the drinking age in France, Germany, Switzerland, and Italy?
I am going on a trip soon and would like to know the actual drinking ages for each of these countries. I need to plan for many people traveling and I have no idea what the legal drinking ages are. Please do not give me an answer unless you are 100% sure of what you are saying. Also if you could please tell me where you got your information so that I can figure out the most helpful source.

- it's supposed to be 16 ... but when I lived there anyone could buy alcohol ... no matter what age was!!!! I lived in France and Spain ... I don't really know the others. I hope this helps
- Try going to that guy rick steves site from pbs.
- legal age is 18 anywhere in Europe, but if you look moderately close to that age, they'll serve you and most likely won't get asked for id. Just make sure that you don't go to any touristy bars where you're more likely to get asked to show your id and you should be fine. The entire time I was in Europe I never got aked for id and I was getting drinks at 16 years old!
- france and italy are 16, germany is 16 for beer and wine but 18 for hard liquor. switzerland is 14 for beer and wine and 18 for hard liquor
