- Details too scant Was he driving WITHOUT insurance? Was he a passengr in a vehicle without insurance?
- No medical establishment will refuse or withdraw treatment. It is part of the medical oath to save life. There also are agreements between EEC countries and the Italians can recoup the cost of treatment from the National Health Service.
- your countries embassy should help, also if your an EU citizen and had accident in another EU country, there should be help available E14 form i think that needs to be filled best of luck. Hope your friend gets better
- They can't refuse to treat him because he wasn't/isn't insured. Insurance covers the cost of the treatment. he should get the treatment he needs, but it will have to be paid for in full by him or someone on his behalf. I wish him a full and speedy recovery.
- If he's in hospital, then the doctors there have a "duty of care" to treat him. If he doesn't have insurance, it just means that the family will have to pay for the treatment, but they won't withold treatment if it is vital for his survival, though they may try to consult the family if he needs a major operation done.
