  1. Trains in Europe are quite expensive - your best option would be the cheap airlines (Germanwings, HLX are two that I can think of right now)
  2. http://www.railpass.com/eurail/passes/ for train travel info..train travel isnt always the cheapest form of travel here in Europe. I would really suggest checking some of the cheaper airlines in Europe. I would suggest checking flights with Easy Jet also.. www.easyjet.com www.hlx.com is another to check
  3. Much as I agree that some budget airlines could be cheaper than the price of a train ticket. But I urge you to look into other misc charges such as transport and travelling time. Such as, most airports are situated out of the city, and you are paying extra to transport yourself back into the city. Also, budget airlines usually offer price that you have to book long in advance, and some even fly late in the night, so it may not be worth if you need another day to recuperate. Consider that in your trip planning~ Ah! I have to say I don't work for any of these transporting company~~ Happy trip~

  5. coaches are the cheapest but not the easiest
  6. If you're in the US you can check into the trains and buy tickets through Raileurope.com (also the source for Eurail passes). I've bought a number of tickets through them, and it's quite easy and reliable. Be sure to read up on how to validate your ticket - you have to punch it in the little machine by the platform before you get on the train, but once you do punch it, it expires shortly thereafter. Only punch the ticket you're about to use. I've taken the train from Nice to Milan, and it was a great way to travel. I'm probably going to take a train between Marsaille and somewhere in Spain this winter, and I can't wait - it's wonderful. As someone else said, it's a lot easier to pop over to a train station and ride over than it is to deal with airports, though the airfare is probably somewhat cheaper.
  7. Trains are ridiculously expensive! You're cheapest bet is to fly using Ryan Air, Meridiana, or Easy Jet. In most cases you can fly for around 50 euros.
