Why Italy

what is the best travel guide for Europe? Italy?

I am not too interested in Pictures, I 've seen those guides. Of course I want tour like info about places but also great hotels for limited budgets, good restaurants not for turists, and must sees. I think I've seen guides that tell you what to visit if you have x, y, z amount of days.

  1. I have tried many types of guides such as: - Lonely Planet; - A "Let's Go" Travel Guide and; - The Rough Guide. Due to its huge community of readers that submit updates and new information, the Lonely Planet is the most complete guide I have ever handed. Try yourself, go to a bookstore and compare by choosing a single topic (a very specific place, for example) and read what the different guides tell about! Other guides such as from Michelin, Fodor, Frommer... provide more information about gourmet, pictures but they are a little bit poor in information about destinations. Have a nice trip!
  2. I travel in Europe at least six months a year, sometimes more, and I have found the following guide books to be the best for what I need and want: Lonely Planet Rick Steve's Time Out
  3. Go to Italy's tourism website and you may be able to send for info or download it. I think they do it by region.
