Why Italy

Italy is thinking of indicting 26 CIA workers who helped kidnap a man from Italy?

If the CIA employees refuse to appear in Italy, is it wrong for Italy to kidnap them and bring them to trial in Italy? What if the men are not on US soil (vacation in Costa Rica or someplace, say) at the time?

  1. what do you think would happen if the situation were reversed. the main question is why? if they were out of bounds, no. it would not be wrong.
  2. Basicly Italy was just doing a little sabre rattling. That's about all they can do anyway. I highly doubt they have the expertise to pull off a mass kidnaping and our government wouldn't stand for their agents being on trial in Italy. A trial in absentia would mean virtually nothing except that those agents probably couldn't go to Italy ever again. Those that were demanding a trial were mostlty members of the Italian socialist & communist parties anyway.
