EF Educational Tours trip to Italy and Spain?
I'm going to Italy and Spain for 11 days this upcoming summer with EF Educational Tours. I've heard different things about the tour company, so I just want to make sure it's an okay tour company. I've heard from some people that you don't get your own beds, and that you have to share a bed with someone else. My cousin, however, went on a tour to Spain with the same company in 2005 and said that she had her own bed. Anyways, I'd also like to know what types of things to pack. I'll be going June 20-30, 2008. It'll be my first time traveling to Europe, but not my first time traveling abroad. In 2005 I traveled with the People to People Student Ambassador Program. What are some major differences between P2P and EF? How much money would you recommend me taking? Any other information you may have about the program or the two destinations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead of time for the help.

- I did the EF trip that did France, Italy, and Spain two years ago. It was amazing. We didn't always get to pick who we roomed with (our chaperon did but we could usually sway her) in Europe the beds are generally all twin so it wasn't really an issue of sleeping with a stranger but there may be a stranger in your (very small) room. I would take at least 500-600 dollars. And if its possible make it so your parents can add more money to your account from home if needed. Me and my friends blew through our money much faster than we realized we would and we were being frugal. That was about the same timeframe I was there. The weather was really good, usually like 70-80 degrees. Make sure you have some nicer clothes that go over your shoulders and below your knees, you will probably see some cathedrals that have a dress code. Here is my advice, go with an open mind. This is probably going to be a once in a lifetime opportunity. It was so really fun going with other people my age instead of my parents and other adults (and there isn't a drinking age in Europe, if that interest you). I didn't know any of the people I went with but I came out of it with some amazing friends. The hotel accommodations are not nearly as nice as the ones in the U.S. but you have to realize what you are there for... is it for the hotels? I hope not. You probably won't get much sleep anyways : ). And I would take a notebook or something to keep track of what you do every day. I hated doing it at the time but one of the girls I went with convinced me to do it each day and I am so thankful. You wouldn't believe how much you forget about. HAVE FUN!! I'm so jealous.
