Why Italy

If i lived in Rome, Italy, could i travel by train to places such as Paris, Madrid, or Berlin by train?

Im just curious cuz i want to go study abroad in Rome, but i would also like to visit these places well.

  1. Yes, but both Berlin and Paris are quite distant from Rome; train is cheaper and faster way to move inside Europe, unless you really need to cover a long distance. Anyway, here Trenitalia (Italian state-owned railway system)official site http://www.ferroviedellostato.it/homepage_en.html Next September a new company, NTI, should start but routes are anyway the same.
  2. Yes. You can fly as well, and it would be much cheaper to fly, not to mention lots faster.
  3. Yes, I take the train to Paris, Munich, Vienna or Bologna from my home in Italy. The trains are also a great way to get out and explore Italy. Pinguino gave you the link for the trains here. For longer trips, like Madrid, or Berlin, flying is a better option. You can find budget flights on sites like: http://www.skyscanner.net/ .
