Why Italy

Do you think it would be better to take a day trip to Florence, Italy from Venice, Italy or from Rome, Italy?

I am going to both Venice and Rome and i want to take a day trip to Florence. But i am not sure which place would be closer or better to leave from. Thank you very much for your advice!

  1. You can do either, just see what suits your schedule best. You will have a great time anyway! Enjoy. Beware of pick-pockets.
  2. Go from Rome.. Its closer and takes less time to get there. There are more trains going from Rome to Florence than Venice to Florence. There's also direct trains from Rome to Florence. But from Venice there's a short 15 min train off the islands, then you have to change trains again in Milan.
  3. YES, TOP CONTRIBUTER IS RIGHT, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE JUST GOING FOR THE DAY,YOU DONT WANT TO BE STUCK ON A TRAIN FOR FOR ANY LONGER THEN YOU NEED TO.
  4. I honestly don't think you can do Florence justice in a day...there is just so much to see in the Uffizi alone and you can spend a couple of hours queuing to get in to it! Please do yourself a favour and extend your trip a little so that you can walk around Florence, enjoy the architecture and have time to duck inside some of the most fantastic galleries in the world. If you do insist on a day trip - leave from Rome....
