- The Renaissance is based on the idea of Humanism; meaning to take the focus off of God and put a focus more on people. The focus in Humanism was so often on Knowledge. This lead to a rediscovery and rethinking of the Greek philosophers, artists, etc. In regards to the Art of the Italian Renaissance, people were starting to create art, statues, etc. that looked like men and the struggles of life or the happiness of life. The artists would so often create statues that would resemble Greek Gods and claim that the statue did not look like a Greek God, instead it looked like King David from the bible. That way, they would not offend their patrons. As the art started to develop and focus was taken away from God and put on people, more people started to turn towards humanism instead of the church.
