Why Italy

Booking a flight to Italy round trip for 2 months in July. How long ahead of time is good to book the flight?

I have heard 2-3 months and when I look up tickets 2-3 months from now to Italy they are significantly cheaper than ones 6 months from now when I am traveling. Is this because its an off season or is it better to wait until its 2-3 months before the date to book the flight? Any recommendations for travel sites or airlines are welcome.

  1. The tickets 3 months from now are cheaper than the ones 6 months from now because Summer is high season and not Spring. Generally, airline ticket prices only increase as you approach the departure date.
  2. High Season (Summer) starts around the 2nd week of June! Keep checking, and put some air-fare alerts on any of the following sites. The more flexible you are on departure date and day and airports of departure and destination, the best! 3. The best time to purchase is when the fares are on sale. The simple answer is do your research, compare different sites and airlines and if you find a good fare, buy it.
