How was Bach exposed to the German and Italian culture?

  1. here you can find some information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johann_Sebastian_Bach In the German version they give the names of the Italian musicians: Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, Girolamo Frescobaldi, Arcangelo Corelli, Giovanni Legrenzi, Giovanni Bassani, Giuseppe Torelli, Alessandro Marcello, Tomaso Giovanni Albinoni, Antonio Vivaldi, Benedetto Marcello, Nicola Antonio Porpora, Francesco Durante, Giovanni Alberto Ristori, Giovanni Battista Pergolesi As far as I know he never travelled to Italy and used to live in Germany, but I think he had some information and exchange by Italian artists travelling to Germany. http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johann_Georg_Pisendel He held contact with Pisendel who was a scholar of Vivaldi.
