Cheapest family holiday touring europe?
There are 4 of us (2 kids). We want to travel to Italy and then across to Croatia moving through eastern europe to Poland and then Russia. Anybody know any sites where I can plan such a trip or the cheapest possible way in which this can be done? Not looking for luxury accommodation - anything will do as only want to spend a couple of days in each destination. Any suggestions for me? Thanks!

- In Croatia there are lots of B&B type accommodation, basically in rooms in peoples homes....but a warning that there are non registered places that are cheaper BUT there are tourism police who go around and fine people for staying there ( I met someone who got fined....around $100US apparently)...... The bus in Croatia is really the only way to get around, unless you hire a car. I took a night bus from Zargreb to Dubrovnik which saved me money for accommodation ( despite having a crap nights sleep).....hostel websiite maye handy for you eg hostels.com, hostelworld.com or hostelbookers.com. Trains will get you to the other places or planes ( try skyscanner.net, it has most of the cheapes european airlines). Some places are more expensive to stay in eg in Italy I found Florence pricey but I stayed in a campground about a 50min bus ride from the centre of Florence. I stayed in a cabin, but they also have caravans there to....it was heaps cheaper than staying in town, the bus ride was ok and it was quite cheap, but could be an options for you. If you do stay in cheaper places, further from the centre you do spend more time on buses/metros etc getting to and from the centre for things to do ( and it adds up pricewise as well ) so you may have to compromise getting somewhere a bit closer to the centre or put up with the travelling.
- Malta is very cheap too, you can check these links: http://www.malta.cc http://www.holidaysmalta.com/malta/accommodation.html
