Why is everything BLACK or WHITE?
like honestly, i don't see the difference. I am white [Irish Italian and German to be exact] and i have Asian friends, Hispanic friends, black friends, white friends, and multiracial friends. and when president-elect obama was elected everyone was like oh a black man blah blah, even my black friends were like that. but i don't see the difference if hes black, white, hispanic, asian, blue, purple, orange, yellow, round, square, u get the picture. i see racism still exist. recently in august i went to Virginia and people had confederate flags, i was like wtf is that?!?! i like to surround my self with diverse people, get to experience different cultures, like when i visit my Filipino friend its a totally different experience then when i go to my friends italian grandparents house or my other Indian friends house, and i like that. i am all for multiracial marriages too, i mean honestly i really am mostly attracted to white men but i wouldn't mind mixing it up. but some people are like no i cant date outside my race. and this one Filipino girl i know walks up to Asian people and are like r u Filipino; and looks down on non Filipinos and everything with that girl has to be asian like when we were going to a restaurant she wanted to go to an expensive Japanese place and my friend Mandie goes "well sorry im broke lets just go to Chili's i can afford that" and everyone agreed and Nichole [the Asian girl] got all mad and we were like Nichole calm down we will go to that place next time lets just go to Chili's. she agreed but she wasn't happy . its crazy! like i love having friends that are all different races! i mean it makes things more exciting and different. like im mostly Irish so instead of going to only my irish friends and experiencing the same old same old. i get to go to different cultures, try different food, and its really cool. why would someone want to be racist sorry i wrote so much its just this topic makes me so mad! i hate the fact that just because im white and wanted McCain to win the election people thought i was being racist. jus cause i didnt root 4 the black guy? exactly! they act like black people cant be racist and white people are all racist! i hate it and yeah im a republican my parents are republicans.......my family is republicans adn yea they all voted for McCain and yes I wanted him to win but he lost so i said u no what i hope i learn to accept and like him adn want to vote for him in four years. but if McCain won it woulda been about race u no how many time the race card was played too many to count

- I know what you mean. Technically and medically and geographically and emotionally and what you eat and who you are sometimes and what you are used to sometimes depends on the race and culture you are. Why people hate? Because it's easier than fixing that's why. It is easier to say I hate you than to roll my sleeves up and work WITH YOU. People become racist without even realizing it they are careful about what they say b.c people have been conditioned to think that you should be quiet around minorities. No, speak your mind be who you are, HELP other people just like you who want to make this world a better place. It's easier said than done, but if no one ever took challenges and strived to live in a better place we wouldn't be living in a free country!
- Racism will ALWAYS exist. There is no law against it. You are allowed to hate other races to an extent. You can't really change anything. Whether you like it or not, its still going to exist. Some people were raised to be racist.
- I understand what you are talking about. I remember once in like the 5th or 6th grade, I had a group project for science, and it was an all white group, and then there was one black girl, Deshawn. We had to each give an idea for what we should do, and most of our ideas, including mine and Deshawn's, weren't that good so they did not get picked. As soon as we chose an idea, Deshawn starts yelling at us, saying we didn't pick her because she was black, and we were racist, and she threatened to tell the teacher that we were all racists. It was actually simpler than that, she wasn't good at science so her idea wasn't good, but she tried to make it about race, which I hate. I didn't want Obama to win, but that's just because I'm Republican. Some people don't even realize that racism can come from more than white people. By not embracing and experiencing other people's cultures, we are in effect being racist, regardless of your color. It makes me mad too, because it's so silly and stupid, but so many people cannot get beyond color and race.
- Hahaha, sweetie you don't see the race issue because you are white.
- I agree. Especially with the whole Obama thing. I was mad after election day when I heard people on the radio talking about him being our first black president instead of just our next president. I think certain things, though... Like... People take a certain pride in their culture and not necessarily their race? If that makes sense. :S
- Yeah I totally agree! But people will always hate on other people. just be above them. And the whole Obama thing just be happy that he won. And that America voted for a black man. Comes to show that because of your race you can do anything. Haha I cried when he won and I'm 14! lol
- Honey, I live in the South. The Confederate flag still lives on here. Even after the Civil war, it's basically been immortalized. The state that I live in actually boasts one of the largest connections of the Ku Klux Klan. There are serious race problems down here. And if you look up the town of Jasper Texas, you will find several news reports about the murder of an African American man by some white people. That murder is right in my area. I actually have a soccer game in that town where the man was killed. But racism is something that is everywhere. It's like a virus, an uncontrollable virus that just spreads and spreads. And people of race(I'm Hispanic) will most always view other races with suspicion and fear. It's just the way it is. And my parents voted for McCain, and I wasn't called racist. And anyone can be racist. Discrimination evolves from fear, and fear turns into hate. It's a cycle. A cycle that always repeats with disastrous results.
