Why Italy

Do you know of good resources to learn Italian?

hi, I am learning Italian on my own as a hobby, and would want to know of any websites offering good resources, and also of any parallel texts English/ Italian or even French/ Italian.

  1. rosetta stone is a good program to use but it costs money
  2. Hey there! Get Byki. It's a free software program that works really well and it’s fast. I've used it for a couple languages and they have ITALIAN too! There are a couple things that made Byki work for me: the first was that it remembers the words you have trouble with and instead of just giving you errors and laughing at you- Byki actually helps you out with those. pretty soon the words you had the most trouble with are the ones you know REALLY WELL!! haha. the other thing I like about Byki (other than the pricetag) is that it also keeps track of ALL the words you learned, and will show you ones it thinks you're about to get fuzzy on. keeps things real fresh! everyone learns diferently right? my tip for using it is to do it somewhere without a lot of people and to actually SAY the words as it shows them to you. even if you're a visual person, speaking them will reinforce this as you have to SEE the word to be able to speak it. my last tip on learning a language is to have a goal. maybe it's something like 1hr of language study means you can play games or IM/chat/whatever for an hour, or think BIG and promise yourself a trip to a place where they speak the language you're trying to learn... You can imagine how much fun that would be!

  4. Hi! I'm pleased 2 know there's someone who want 2 learn my mothertongue! XD I suggest u the BBC learnin languages site: http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/italian/ Maybe u already know it, maybe not :) I saw the online course and I can say that's very good even if it's almost formal... and doesn't give the possibility 2 learn a colloquial Italian so u should learn daily expressions in: http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/italian/cool/ That's very cool :°D Another site u can use 2 learn italian: http://www.italica.rai.it/lingua/corso.htm Besides u can download or buy (but it costs 2 much) The Rosetta Stone Italian... trust me, it's very useful even if u should have a little knowledge of the language... for example basilar things like personal pronouns, verb 2 be, 2 have and other commons verbs... u'll learn lots of things in a little time! (I used the version for swedish and in some minutes I learned little sentences and numbers) http://www.rosettastone.com/ I give u also some useful sites for ur italian: http://www.italian-verbs.com/italian-verbs.htm http://parole.alice.it/parolecgi/ControlServletParole (another verbs conjugator) http://dizionari.corriere.it/dizionario_italiano_inglese.shtml I hope u're satisfied! Bye and excuse me for my errors!
