How to find vital records in Italy?
My great grandfather Giovanni came to the US in 1920. HE had a father named Luigi and a mother Maria. I would like to know how I could get info on Luigi and find out what his parents name were... I do not want to end up paying 700 dollars just for names and dates. something someone could just write on a piece of paper.

- In Italy you can ask info about your relatives directly in the city where they were living. See this for more info: http://italy.usembassy.gov/acs/records.asp This link it is also used to know more for people arrived in US: http://www.ellisisland.org/search/search_new.asp?
