  1. Well how long are you going to stay there? It depends where you stay, where you plan to dine, what airline you are going to use and what tours you shall take.
  2. We were in Italy in September of 2007 and the weather was like summer here in the Detroit area. I just checked TravelTipsAndBits.com and found that air fare from Boston to Rome departing on Dec. 5 and returning on Dec. 12, for example is $471 plus tax and fees. We stayed in the Apollo Hotel that was lovely. $140 per night for two including a roof top garden breakfast. Check it out on TravelTipsAndBits.com products tab. Sort the hotels by name and go to page 4 near the bottom. There are a lot, 1826 hotels, listed there, some less and some more expensive. We liked the Apollo because it was a short walk to the Coloseum, the Forum, etc. We did not need a taxi to find good restaurants and bars. Food and incidentals ran about $25 each a day, more with wine, beer or whiskey. We probably spent another $50 per day on souvenirs and other stuff that we could have gotten by without. We only took one side trip from Rome to Pompeii and I believe that cost about $50. We also went to the Vatican by taxi, about $15 each way plus about $15 to get in the Vatican. Happy traveling.
