Why Italy

What are some positive and negative things about Florence, Italy?

Im studying there next semester from feb-april and it would be nice to get a feel of the city before i go. thanks!

1. Positive: arts, museums, food, open minded people. Negative: tourists, traffic, wet and hot in summer season (I live in Milan (Italy) and Florence is my fav italian city.
2. It depends on which point of view... If you mean from a social point of view, I can say that Florence is not a big city ( 370.000 of inhabitants) and there are not an high level of criminality, and it is a quite safe city, even if there many quarters that are not very advisable like " Le Piagge", but it is nothing of really dangerous and it can't be compared to the dangerous quarters of many metropolis... In you mean from a climatic and tourist point of view, I agree with Gianni...
