How easy is rail travel from South of France to Italy?
The various rail maps I find show lines from Nice/Monte Carlo into Italy. I particularly want to travel from Nice to Milan, using a Eurorail pass. It's a little hard to see exactly which portions are high-speed, and how difficult it may or may not be to make this journey. Experienced travelers, advice welcome!

- It is very very easy. Easiest way is to head to the train station in the city you are at and make the arrangements then, particularly with your Eurorail pass. Also, when I went, I had to pay extra surcharge on top of Euro-rail pass to ride the high speed trains (also the sleeping cars). But an awesome trip, nonetheless.
- Extremely easy. There are direct trains from Nice to Milan, but none of them are high speed (by high speed, I guess you mean the TGV), so it seems to take 4 hours on average. To take a high speed train, you would have to go back north, I guess up to Chambery *and* pay an extra. A waste of time and money.
