I am home schooled can anyone tell me a a good text book to learn beginner Italian?

Thanks so much I am going to be a nun and I have to go to Italy and so I need to learn Italian! LoL That is not so exspenisve( like Rosetta stone!)

yes, actually i taugh myself italian using italian for dummies. it takes time, but not i can speak italian! ciao bella!

Forget text books... go with Rosetta Stone, it's a computer program that walks you through the language of your choice the natural way. Like you learned your first language. My husband has been using it to learn Spanish and he's learned so much in only a months time! Check it out...
I don't mean to be rude, but if you plan on making a lifetime commitment (which deciding to become a nun generally is supposed to be), I think spending a bit more money on it is going to be helpful in the long run. The two best ways I find to learn a language tend to be things like Rosetta Stone or going to that country and involving yourself in the culture.
I know what you mean, Rosetta Stone is nice but quite expensive. If you want to just get your feet wet try the free way and search your local library for books teaching Italian. Also, remember to check out an English to Italian dictionary.
Have a listen to http://www.italianpod101.com , it's a free podcast for learning Italian. You can go to the site and download the mp3s there, or you can subscribe in iTunes (or whatever you use). Don't be put off by the price tags on the site, the mp3s (the best part of the site) are free. Good luck!
