Are men of Southern Italian descent naturally short?

I'm mostly Italian, not all of it but my mother's side of the family came from Sicily and I noticed that a lot of Italian men are short, including myself, which am 19 and 5'5". Is this true or just a myth?

You know I honestly cannot answer that but I will say they are so beautiful that it confirms that great things come in small packages...sorry I am not answering your question but I could not resist saying this....when I was in Sicily, I can honestly say at 5'8 I did not feel small so you may be right...
2. Where I was born in Europe we had many Italian guys from Sicily and Calabria and Sardegna . Many were shorter than us but we had above average height like 6'2". But some guys I know they are 5'10" and over so maybe it just depends on family genes. As I know also that in Sicily they have Northern European blood in some people who come from Nordic countires and they are blonde and blue-eyed and taller than general population.
3. Im Sicilian myself and ALL of my family is over 5"10, i think it's because way, way back alot of Moroccans sailed to southern Italy, and naturally they are rather tall. Thats a theory my dad told me when i asked any way. Most people from other parts of Italy are short though.
