How long is a flight from Rio de Janerio to Florence, Italy, and where would some stopovers be?

I'm planning a trip and I'm curious how long the flight is from Rio de Janeiro to Florence, Italy, or Rome, Italy, and where the stopovers might be? Any help is appreciated!

  1. first i would call all the airlines with the information that you have and also the further you book it the cheaper rates you can get and going on the red eye helps also. they can give you the run down from the time you arrive to the time it is going to take you to get from check in to the airplane where the bathrooms are bars etc etc what to not bring on board who u will be sitting by the list is endless if you book ahead and they can tell you all the layovers and where, now they cannot predict the weather so you have to give and take on that one happy flying
  2. a from rio to florence would be around 18 hours and you would most likely stop in either miami or new york and then london or frankfurt
  3. Swiss flies from Sao Paulo to Zurich (non-stop) and you can connect there to either Florence or Rome.
  4. To Florence: If you choose Air France, it's only 1 connection via CDG to FLR. Total flight time: 14 hours exactly. Varig will connect in Sao Paulo, then Paris and adds about 4 hours to the flight (but does look much cheaper this way!). TAM also connects you in Paris, but to Alitalia. Their flight time is scheduled for 16 hours and 10 minutes. Swiss work with TAM to connect you via Sao Paulo then Zurich. Total to Florence: 17h, 25m. ========= To Rome: TAP Air Portugal via Lisboa: 12h, 5m Iberia via Madrid: 12h, 10m Air France via Paris: 14h, 25m You didn't ask about price, but airfares to Rome look a lot cheaper when I checked. You might consider using train from Rome to Florence and back if trip costs are a consideration. Check out http://matrix.itasoftware.com/cvg/dispatch/prego/calendar -- that's what I used. It shows scheduled flight times and fares to help you find the airline that best fits your needs. It does not do bookings, so you have to take that info and book direct from the airline.
  5. If you were able to get a direct flight it would be approx. 11 Hrs 25 Min. You can get flight times for airports all over the world at https://www.jets.com/
