I wouldn't recommend the BandB i stayed in when I was in Rome in oct last year- !!!! - but what I would do is if you find one you are interested in - check it out first by googling it on the net and reading other peoples reports on it. I heard good things about angeltode b and b - they were quick to reply to me etc unfortunately I went with some one else - and they were a complete dud! Also a great tip for Rome - use the metro - it is great and so cheap (1 euro/journey) you buy your tickets from the machines underground or at nearby cafes and bars - love it! It is quite safe and well used by Romans!
