Why Italy

Is it possible to fly from Nimes,France to Rome, Italy? How much approximately would it cost?

I am flying to Nimes in two weeks and have been invited to stay with family friends in Rome afterwards. Would it be cheaper to get a train to Rome and if so how much approximately would train cost?

  1. No, but you can catch a flight to one of these luxurious destinations: * Brussels (Charleroi) * Liverpool * London (Luton) * Nottingham East Midlands Book a convenient flight from Avignon(about 50 mi. from Nimes), France to Rome, Italy for a special price of $1932.00, with 3 breath taking stops in various cultural cities along the way. Or you can get a second class France/Italy rail pass for $331.00, with which you can ride 4 times in two months. http://travelocity.raileurope.com/us/rail/passes/france_italy_pass.htm
  2. try to search in this two low cost airlines from marseille (1hour to nimes) or montpellier
  3. The train should cost about 89 euros. I didn't see any cheap direct flights between Nimes, Montpellier or Marseille to Rome, but sometimes ryanair has such low rates that you could save money by even flying way out of the way and changing planes, but you have to buy two separate tickets with them, and I doubt they'd put you on the next flight if you miss your 2nd flight, even if it's their fault. I played around with options on ryanair and couldn't find good connections that would cost less than 89 euros. Except: Fly from Montpellier to Frankfurt/Hahn for 5 euros, arrive at 22:35, then the next evening fly from there to Rome for 15 euros. But Hahn airport isn't really close to Frankfurt and you'd have to stay somewhere, so it looks like the train is the best bet.
