What is the price range for genuine Murano glassware bought in Venice, Italy?
I paid over US$2000 for a set of one glass vase, 5 glasses and 1 mirror tray, in a violet color that changes to blue under certain light. It has gold trim & elaborate floral designs, and the artist signed on it and came with a "Certificato di Garanzia" card. It's a company called CAM Vetri D'arte srl. Seemed pretty ligit. But saw other glasses in small store go for much less. Just wondering if I got ripped off?

- I don't think you did, real Murano pieces are very expensive and it came with an authenticity card. certificato di garanzia, warranty certificate, so it is 100% good, the others might not be authentic, there are lots of pieces every where, in Europe that are very similar, but not authentic and go for less. I think you got a good deal. I was going to buy a ring and it's $ 560.00 no where near as much material, at a Lalique store, in Los Angeles, so I think you did okay.
- Actually.. about $18 a piece
- Murano glass is pricey...I think you got a fair deal. Many items sold in the US are larger production items. If you have gold trim to the glass that alone raises the value...it is difficult to introduce gold. Also, different artist bring in different values, even though they work for the same company. Most pieces i've seen here start at about $300.00 and up. The floral pieces alone fetch a higher ticket compared to the more abstract. Worry not, it sounds like you aquired some great works. Enjoy them and display them prominantly.
- You might check eBay which is a good source of determing the price/value-Be prepared to be shocked though as I have found prices set/bid to be much less than the supposed real value of the item to be. Key word here 'supposed". marlyne B
