- Oh yes. The shops get flooded and it gets really awful. They have these "flood gates" in the planning but I don't know if they were ever put in place or if they're still in the making. I was there in 2000. Look up Venice, Italy in Google and see what you find! I loved Venice.
- People get wet.
- The Acqua Alta occurs during high tides. The heaviest flooding is when there are storm surges from winds in the Adriatic blowing toward Venice. You see it more in the winter. After the tide goes back out, the flooding subsides; it lasts around six hours. Sometimes, there are only puddles around the manhole covers, but I've been there when the water was almost up to my knees (I'm 6'3"). The city puts out raised boardwalks when needed. There are lots of photos and videos available. - Some time water invade the city. Normally in winter the water increase level up to 0.5 meret over the streets.
- Nothing much. The high tides make it flood.
- rain is not a real matter as in any other city ... the problem in case is the high tide, which is caused by wind, tide, moon fase. rain does not increase the sea level.
- it floods!
