Italy Tour Guide question?
What are some interesting festivals/events in Italy? What the heck are leisure activities and give me some for Italy, if you can. What are popular sports in Italy? and can you think of 10-12 culturally specific vocabulary words that would go with any of the above? Some help please...

- There are literally thousands of events every year. obvious ones include Carnevale. there are various different styles. The one in Venice is well-known, Ivrea has a unique event with orange battles. Cento and other places have large floats that are allegorical. Il Redentore in Venice includes an excellent fireworks display. The Explosion of the Cart is worth a visit to Florence at Easter. This is one of the resources I use for festivals and events - not only here in Italy, but world-wide. Just enter Italy and the date range. This will locate the major festivals and some very interesting less major ones. http://www.whatsonwhen.com/sisp/index.ht... Other good sites include: http://goeurope.about.com/od/italianfest... http://en.saimicadove.it/ Not fully populated for this year yet: http://www.sagreinromagna.it/romagna_fea... This one is in Italian, but it covers all of Italy and you should be able to get the dates and the gist of what's going on (use the translation tools in Google if you need help): http://www.sagreinitalia.it/ These are a few particularly spectacular events; the living chess in Marostica is only held every other year: http://www.marosticascacchi.it/a_2_EN_9_... http://venicexplorer.net/tradizione/rede... http://venicexplorer.net/tradizione/rede... http://www.paliodiferrara.it/ http://www.capri.com/en/san-costanzo Two of the most popular sports are calcio (soccer) and Formula 1 racing.
- Here is a page about events in Le Marche region, a charming and still undiscovered area in central Italy. I added below the address of a page about sports in Italy. Ciao!
- Try looking at http://www.viamigo.com/tours/Italy.html I just heard of this site the other day. They have a ton of local guides that can answer your question--plus they can customize a tour just for you, if you want to go around with them. So, if you want a fashion, clubbing, historic, or sports-oriented experience, you can get it!
