Looking for pensiones in Venice Italy ?
I'll be in Venice from March 16th - 20th (?) Must be clean and easy access to attractions/airport, with usual amenities.

- I stayed @ Hotel San Cassiano Ca' Favretto right on Canal Grande a couple of years ago. Very nice and not too pricey. It was fascinating to look out of the window early in the morning as Venice was waking up to a new day - absolutely everything is done from "vaparettos" (small engine driven boats) - including morning paper delivery + rubbish collecting! The room was massive with a decent sized bathroom + air con. The hotel used to be a private palazzo dating back to the 14th century serving venetian nobilities until the early 1950s when it was transformed into a "pensione".. If you decide to try it out - don't miss out on having breakfast on the balcony overlooking Canal Grande. Only 2 tables out there so be early! Adress? Santa Croce, 2232, 30135 Venezia Ps: The hotel has it's own jetty - perfect for a pre-dinner drink! You can also arrive + depart with vaparetto taxi or gondola, although there is a "vaparetto bus stop" just around the corner.
- Venice is small & all the attractions are in walking distance of each other. The airport on the other hand is on the mainland & is only accessable by boat or taxi. Both relatively expensive. As far as pensiones are concerned I don't have any info because I never stayed in one in Venice. But since Venice is the most expensive city in Italy to visit, Don't expect any real bargins. Good luck and enjoy!!
- venice is very, very expensive. Always! Anyway I suggest you a very nice hotel in a quite area (but not far from anything; in Venice, which is so smallnothing is really far from anything else). Try with locanda del ghetto www.locandadelghetto.net/, the best place I've ever been in town. The have currently an offer: 95 euros for a double B&B as long as you stay at least two nights. Try with them to make sure they have rooms.
