What to see/do in Venice, Italy?
I am planning a 5-day visit to Venice in October. What must-see attractions should I see? Also, Is there a cheaper water-bus ticket I can buy as I am staying there for 5 days?

- There are 2 weblinks. I am not sure if the waterbus is free.
- Waterbus is not at all free. These are the fees: 06,00 EUR one way 13,00 € - ticket 12 hours (from the moment you stamp it for the first time) 15,00 € - 24 hrs 20,00 € - 36 hrs 25,00 € - 48 hrs 30,00 € - 72 hrs Must see attractions: -tour on the grand canal by waterbus number 1 from Vallaresso (San Marco) to Piazzale Roma or vice versa -go up to the top of St. Mark's bell tower (not at sharp hours), by elevator - visit Doges' Palas (with ancient jail) or Accademia Gallery if you like paintings (Guggenheim collection for contemporary art) - eat at a "bacaro" (typical hosteria, ask at the hotel or send one more question on this site) - visit murano, burano and torcello (one day visit) by water bus on your own (have lunch at Burano "Gatto nero" restaurant)
- Visit the Guggenheim museum. Also, you will be in Venice at a very special time; make sure to dedicate a whole day to the Venice Biennale which is on until 21 November. :)
- The biggest mistake people make when visiting Venice is feeling like they have to always be on the go and cram a bunch of tourist attractions in. Don't miss the big ones -- like Piazza San Marco -- but honestly you're days would be better spent strolling through the city or sipping wine and listening to music in an open plaza. Unless you have a lot of money to spend avoid the tourist scams like the rip-off gondola rides (If you really want to take one try to negotiate with the gondolier because he'll usually agree to a lower price). Long story short: Good food, good wine, and beautiful atmosphere is what venice is known for, why try to make it more than that?
- Everything you see in Venice is to see... Venice is not very big. The only thing is that it' s a bit expencive and full of tourists...
- You should also go to the "Murano island" for shopping! They have great glass jewelry and decorations for the household.
