why are italian men so overrated?
I recently visited Italy and most men are not near the image we have in America of sexy dark skinned lovers with a romantic attitude and accent. In reality Italian men on average are rather short and some a bit too hairy, nowadays there is this fashion trend on italy of having mullets so a lot of them are sporting mullets around and what is worst!!! so many of them are so much into fashion that they overdress more than most girls I've seen. I was at a bus stop in Rome and this italian guy had this white leather set of pants from dolce gabbana, a white t-shirt and white leather sandals accompanied by a freaking dolce gabbana white bag and of course tons of gel. in the club I met so many italian guys yet most of them u can tell wear some sort of invisible make up me as a girl can tell right away when men have make up. Cologne to the excess too. I mean they take the word metrosexual to a whole different level. Me and my other friends were like WOW THIS ARE ITALIAN MEN?

- hahaha I agree I am currently living in Italy and I always laugh at my american friends who come and thinking they are going to find so many hot men and instead they find so many metros they are totally turned off. the worst is they lack tact with women, u walk around and they spank ur ass and all on the street, the worst is that in italy is legal for a man to touch a woman even if they dont know them. Americans have a very naive image of italian men, they are greasy and ugly.
- WEE ITALIANS ROCKK!! but hey we over do it sometimes but most italian wanna be guidos well if u donno wat that is... http://www.who-sucks.com/people/guidos-suck-a-collection-of-guido-images-for-your-viewing-pleasure
- yeah i know! im european, been around italians and been to italy few times before...ever since i started hanging on yahoo answers america, i noticed that there really is a big hype about italian men. and i always wondered why too! maybe they really have the picture of a tan adonis, who is a real gentleman and so on... yes, of course there are some of them around (this would mostly be the guys from sicily and down that way) but the average italian men are white just like the rest of us europeans, have dark hair and mostly skinny...nothing special but i guess they really do rock some americans world! ;-)
- I'm an Italian American 39 yr old woman, who never, I repeat never would date an Italian man, not only for all the reasons you listed, but I seen the way my Dad treated my Mom, NO THANK YOU!
- After college, I accepted a job with Reuters in Milan, Italy. I was there for seven years before I returned to the U.S. Italian men, in general, I found to be kind and charming. I married one. They, like most of the world view Amercan women, in general, as whores who have sex with men almost radomly to satisfy their own urges and curiosities with no self respect or dignity. I sensed this discrimination as soon as I settled in to my new apartment and job. I immediately changed my hair color from blonde to brunette and started wearing more conservative clothing to become accepted. This prevented me from being mistaken for an American college tramp on holiday. American women tourists in Italy act like American businessmen conventioneers in and LasVegas...scum! Television and the internet have brought countries much closer together. Those entertainment channels that constantly display and exemplify freaks like Brittany Spears and Lindsey Lohan give Europeans the impression that all American woman have absolutely no self respect. In Italy, as well as all of Europe, American women are not respected even by Italian women. As far as fashoin is concerned. Italy sets the trends...period. What fashions and styles are worn in Italy today, will be found in France and Eastern Europe next year and then America in two years. Most of the world's men view American women as "practice before marriage." And that's a title you've earned. I'd like to see a picture of the woman who started this blog. I bet she's overweight, unkept, poorly educated and in need of a makeover.
- I'm an Italian American man and I am not overrated. I deserve all the accolades and respect I get. Hahaha!
- if Italian man are overrated there must be a reason. Image does not come from anything, but instead it has been built through the word of mouth of the many nice ladies we got. By the way I am Italian :d
- Hi! I'm Italian! We are the "third world trendy"!! Cool uh? The problem is that most guys grow believing that what they see in TV is real life. Appearance is usually more important than substance. Spoiled brats. The bad thing is that even the so called adults are taking the path down to fashion-style life (when they hardly get to the end of the month): they starve if they can look cool, drive a big car and dress with top fashion clothes. I'm ashamed to be Italian sometimes. Of course there are cool and good looking Italian guys like you say but most of them are the typical bastard that will screw you for the night and drop you out of the door the following morning. They are usually totally ignorant because they think that being good looking will take them wherever they want in life. If you are looking for romantic Italian men you are looking for the common guy: not particularly cool; the one that looks insignificant. There is plenty of them in Italy (like anywhere in this world) but of course you won't find them in clubs or discos because they usually don't care a thing about those places. Too bad you've seen only the bad side of Italian men. Hope you'll come visit Italy again and meet someone better. Bye
- lmao well yeah. Not all guys in a country will be hot. Never believe the media.
- Men from north/center Italy on average are 5.8 ft tall, the tallest of Europe except for the ones from scandinavian countries. Men from center/south Italy are usually 1.2 inch shorter. Your description fits PERFECTLY with what we call "burini", young men that try to be into fashion, but result to have bad taste. Rome, for more than a reason, is full of them. Next time you'll be luckier..
