Why Italy

Any good restaurants in Venice, Italy, that are most often frequented by locals rather than tourists?

I've been to Venice before, but this time I'd like to eat in places that the locals eat. I'll be in back at the beginning of February and would like to eat GOOD food at a reasonable price in both of these areas. I would suspect that things will be expensive since I will be there for the end of Carnevale. I don't want to go to those touristy type places. Oh, and I'm staying near the train station. If you have any suggestions, please briefly describe the type of food and experience. Thanks.

  1. Yes the tres Gobbi is a very good one !
  2. I recommend you to go to Bar Caffe Olimpia, which is located just down from the train station. It is a fairly typical looking cafe, but I was presently surprised with the very warm and friendly welcome I received as I walked up to the bar. It was a busy little place - plenty of locals popping in for a quick coffee before heading off for a days activities. And whilst I was standing at the bar, sipping my coffee I had one of "those" moments you have some times...when you just think - yes, this is what life is all about -and I love it!!
  3. Not cheap (forget this word in Venice) but locals go there, and I always eat there when I'm in Venice: ALLA MADONNA S.Polo, 594 Rialto 30125 Venezia tel.+39-041-5223824 fax+39-041-5210167 SORA AL PONTE S.Polo, 1588 ponte delle beccarie 30125 Venezia tel.+39-041-718208 both nearby Rialto; fish and seafood.
