I would believe in Jesus...but I think?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If you had read it all you'd see what my question was. But here it is anyways: How do you explain these extraordinary similarities between Pagan myth and the story of Jesus? ~~~~~~~~~ Thanks. Aww webboffin's post is growing every second and is now almost as long as my post. Touched my heart, the truest warrior of Christ if I ever saw one.
- question too long......
- long question?
- Therefore you don't or what's the question???
- The gospel of Thomas is not considered a book in the bible io think its actually herearsy to the vadican
- I believe in Jesus. I used to go to a Chtholic school. You know what ever you believe in is your desicion, but you know go to your parents for help.
- Sweet f*cking God, you need to stop with that copy and paste crap.
- They copied?
- er...wats the question???
- ok...
- I read all of that. Ok, you got me! I read none of that.
- wow, u think u could make this shorter and repost? i was interested in answering, but wow, i feel like im reading a novel. well, even tho i didnt read it, i would like to say something i believe in jesus. the bible on the other hand is different. the bible was written by so many different ppl and they all have their own perception of life and what they believe. however, the bible really is just trying to say that jesus was a spiritual person and that if we are "enlightened" like he was, we can do what he did. look at criss angel from mind freak he is a perfect example. he is very enlightened. my mother in law is a spiritual counselor and she does reiki and such. my husband has premonitions and knows what im going to say sometimes before i even open my mouth. he can also read my thoughts. i mean to me the bible's purpose was to make us aware of what we can do. hope this answers what u were trying to ask...at least in a way. lol good luck with everything and have a wonderful day :D
- thats alot to read
- wow!!! you could have been a religious writer... whatever you said, it doesn't matter... what matters most is that "I believe in Jesus Christ" although religious sects are booming out like mushrooms... we still all believe in ONE GOD.
- So what's the question? That is ridiculously long and doesn't get to a point. Good Lord I haven't a clue!
- Dunno? But are you bored or something?!
- Honestly, who could be bothered to read that. Anyone know what the question was and when is it coming out in hardback?
- Too much to read.
- Time to fell my Christmas tree!
- "Christians" have throughout history, endevoured to control the masses by "creating" myths & legends about Paganism (amongst other subjects) It is because of this that the "Devil" was created, (The Devil does not exist before this time) This was invented because the people were not easy to convince to follow the "Christian" ways. "Jesus" (& there were, historically, hundreds of them) was certainly mentioned in Roman literature. As for the rest of "The Question", well it covers so much ground that it would be difficult to seek to answer it at one sitting.
- There is no way that I would even try to read that question, it is unbelieveably toooooooooooo long! I would only say to you that you are making things too complicated. Jesus made it simple and easy. Just accept Him as Lord and Savior and read the bible. Forget the rest of religious practices.
- Holy sh*t!!!! How long was that post...? Stop spreading BLASPHEMY! : ) xoxox : )
- How did you get all that in one question? I have found there are many similarities. I am studying this information, extra-biblical info, and info from the bible itself. There are many striking similarities actually. Thanks for the info!
- Very good augment, that's for sure with a lot of foundations of proof. The foreign wisdom being held captive in a strange land, far away from their beloved Israel, which became catalyst for the mixed local myths with Babylonian gods of that region. This in-itself would help form the main emphasis of the Old Testament when in exile. We must also must consider Moses who's influences derive from his Egyptian teachings and the famous Ten Commandments for social structure and law. Then came Ezra the Scribe, who dictated too five other scribes, his knowledge and written records of the past to form the lost ancient law for the Holy City in Jerusalem. Then came the Greek influences into the scriptures before Jesus was born with the Pharisees in-charge of the Great Temple of God. Here is where we find that the Deed Sea Scrolls differ from those in Jerusalem by the Teacher of Righteousness and those of the Wicked Priests. Then came the induction of Pagan Rome into the scene through integrated wars of control and the adoption of the Christians who would no doubt back the famous Constantine. I leave the rest for you all to analysis the rationale which is rather long but the question is very short.
- Even though I agree, I was forced to report this question as being FAR too long. Next time, don't circumvent the maximum character count.
- what a long article did u read what u wrote???? Jesus loves u
- Brethren, But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
- Clearly you're right. So much of the doctrine and dogma around Christianity has its sources in the other "pagan" religions of the ancient near east and, beyond that, in what Jung called the "collective unconscious" that provides source material for all of the world's myth systems. The question for me is what does it mean to be a follower of Jesus without being a believer in Christ. In other words, I define myself as Christian, but to me being Christian is about struggling to follow (and at times argue with) the way of living articulated by Jesus, not because I think it is better than any other way and not because I'm afraid of going to hell, but because I find it to be a meaningful, life-affirming way to live that has helped me connect with a transcendant reality that I call God. I am inviting other similarly-minded people to consider joining a new group I have created-"faithfulunblievers-Christianity without Rules." This is a forum for intelligent discourse, ethical discussion, theological dialogue, and spirited debate. It is also a forum to build a community among people who struggle to define what it means to be "Christian" without dogmatics or doctrine. If you are interested in being a part of this emerging community, please e-mail me.
- how do you get away with such long questions.
- uff I hate cut and paste so I didnt read it, but yes Jesus life story is basicly a rip off of the Persian god Mithra who the Roman legion was worshipping before Christianity was forced on them
- Making the story short... do u think believing and following a terrorist is a good idea. Well sorry i wont run after or believe a muslim profit....the END.
- Chrisianity is Paganism. Youve done your reserch. right on. Ive been studying religions and mythology for over twelve years now. But I always questioned. I got kicked out of Sunday school for asking questions they couldnt answer. So I always thought something was fishy, something wasnt right, there were obvious contradictions. But the name Jesus when written in the origonal greek Isua, or IUES was an older pre christain and Pagan diety. This is one of the oldest names for God. The spelling might have changed a little but its still the same name. So now I laugh when I see an image of the cross and see a pagan gods name on it. Actualy the now popular image of Jesus actualy came from Dionysius image which were painted in sacred grottes and where they burried their families. Most of the Christian myths were either Pagan, Brahmanism, etc. I know in my reserch I was sickened about the lengths they took to cover their tracks. Why do you think they are so against Pagans more than any other? They are always flinging mud on the Pagan public face and so quick to judge yet they have ritulas, hell even magic in the apocrypha. Moses was a magican wasnt he? Yet magic is suppossed to be a sin. The same goes for fortune telling yet wasnt Jospeh tell the future through his dreams? I feel more and more are waking up and asking questions. I think a house built upon a false foundation must crumble and fall. I really enjoyed your post. long live the Goddess. No matter how hard some try to bring her down, she still survies.
- In answering your question it quite simple the evil one, Satan, the Devil is the Father of Lies... John 8:44 (King James Version) Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. I would suspect you're one of his disciples!!!
- The Catholic Church does not recognize the gospel of Thomas. The facts that have been presented are far from the truth. If someone is intentionally telling lies and trying to lead people away from Christ, then they will be held accountable to Jesus Christ, the only Savior of the world. The answer to the question is simple. Satan can never do anything original, he is a copy cat. The Trinity is the only Creator of everything. Satan copies God and tries to distort everything holy, and turn it into something evil. The pagans copied things that were already in existence that were giving praise to God the Father. Satan can't create anything, so he tries to confuse truth with lies. The word "Satan" actually means "the deceiver."
- How I see Jesus: Well I see Jesus as an ascended master whom we should listen to. It seems a lot of Christians don't. If someone was to approach me with "Do you read your bible?" I might answer "Do you read your Sermon on the Mount?" Jesus delivered a message from God [God and Goddess? The Powers that be?] on how to live on this earth peacefully with our fellow creatures. Unfortunately certain people didn't like the message so naturally they killed the messenger. Did Jesus rise from the dead after 3 days? Let's get something straight. That's the wrapping on the Gift. The Gift as I see it is the teachings of Jesus, namely The Sermon on the Mount. The wrapping is the story of the virgin birth and his rising from the dead. Is it true. Maybe. Maybe not. What's true is the Sermon on the Mount. Is Jesus the Son of God. Yes he is. We are also the children of God. So what else is new? Basically as I see it, the Sermon on the Mount is the quintessential teachings of Jesus and everything else is the wrapping on the Gift.
- WOW...lotza head knowledge Dude!!! Your very educated...to say the least. I am impressed with the searching you are doing... that's great.,..to be a seeker !!! I never went to church for years (since childhood) but losing my father gave me a wake up call about 12 yrs ago.The reason I didn't go to church is because I only heard about Jesus....I never met Him personally... I always believed in Him and heard about Him even saw pictures of Him. It's sorta like a celebrity, you believe that there is a Chuck Norris, Vanna White, etc,etc, but you have never met them right ? Well, what would happen if you met one of those celebrities...right now all they are is someone you have heard about..but start talking with them and little by little you get to develope a relationship with them and know them, their likes and dislikes. And what if they gave you their diary....WOW that's when you would really get to know them personally. Jesus is just like that too, He is a real person that you can get to know as a friend.He's not in some far off temple or shrine. the reason He died is so that He could send the comforter...you know...the Holy Spirit... It's a heart thing more than a head thing...I've heard it;s hard for brainyacks to shake off the head knowledge.... but that will be key for you!!!! as far as pageans being the first is completly true. God opens doors of spirituality but the devil takes advantage of that door all he can. he cannot create-he can only twist and decieve the truth...I heard it said once that the root word of wicker furniture is wicked...(not that wicker furniture is wicked ..PLEASE) the point is a visual...the devil takes the truth and twists it to his own advantage..remember God and Satan are the 2 in battle for your soul...I saw in a movie at the end and it quotes... the greatest deception the devil ever played was in convincing man that he didn't exist !!!!! So I'm not surprized that pagaens worshipped that way 1st as Christians do in certian places now...after all look at how evil that the whole world is...and it's gonna get worse...but have you read the end of the BiBle....................... God wins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! there is power in the Blood even science says=the life is in the blood. ponder that one. By the way Chuck Norris is on yahoo answers....check out about the 9-12 page on "Is certified organic important? " He said no... Hope you find your answers !! From a seeker of God!!!!!!!!!!
- the only thing jesus wants is for us to belive in him for who ever belives in him shall not perish but have enternal life he didnt want us to debate but to have faith that he is the one and only true lord and savuoir we must know god before we truly see the glory the ones who didnt back in the times before jesus walked the earth god did in fact punish those who disobeyed and denied him but this is why he sent his son to earth so we didnt have to (it is up to us how we live he gave us a free will which he can not take away). we could repent our sins and be born again be clean so to speak god knows of these people who belive in false gods and and such religouse belifes other than him its not for us to cast the first stone what others do though there is a sense of worldly confusion on this subject its part of weather you walk in faith or not do you follow jesus or do you let the world cloud your thoughts to make you even more confused than before it is written in the bible in the begining god created the heavens and the earth everything begins with god it is up to you how you use this but he did not want us to take it out of context even what was told in the old or new testiment these are just teachings to help us in our lives today weather you think they are relivent or not this is why people cant get there head around the bible so they go and make up their own religion or cult or idol do you really think a plastic figurine is going to help you fill the emptiness you feel inside or listen to the desires of which you truly need god is not human he does not have face but he is a being he is self made he has the power to help you if are willing to let go of the world and its strong holds and invite him into your life nothing is impossible with him i challenge you to ask him anything and he will deliver.
