Italians, is it customary for your daughters to be chaparoned on dates?
My son is marrying an italian girl. When they go on dates, they have to have a chaparone. Is this customary or could her parents be over-protective. They are both 19. I feel as though they are responsible adults able to make their own decisions. Am I missing something here? If you know about Italian customs, can you please tell me if this is normal in the italian culture. It sounds lovely but terribly out-dated IMO. ta

- When 19 I always had eyes on me . The guys could come in whatever time of the morning. but when the clock struck 12. I better of had my @$$ home if not I had the troops out looking for me. I was never so embarrassed when my father and bro showed up at my dates house pounded on the door and told me to get my butt home , because It was foggy out ! Being a girl in an old Italian family can be rough. <<laughing
