my friend is black but prefers to date white/italian men does this make her a sellout?
a few of my friends say yes cause it isnt normal.But for the most part they think it is okay i can see where she is coming from though cause it seems white/italian men are more attracted to her then the black guys arund here are she has never dated a black guy and the white/italian guys say she shouldnt she has dated some guys i think are racist 1 italian guy couldnt stand black men but was with her i think everyone can have their preference she says she feels bad now cause she is 21 and never even had a crush on a black guy and thinks she has issues i say she is not a sell out and doesnt have to be with a black guy because she is black by the way the guy she is dating this jealous possesive italian guy who is 8 years older than her and i am italian by the way

- You shouldn't be upset with her because of who she chooses to date. IF she is happy then let her be happy. I don't think that she should date one particular race but if this is what she chooses then let her be. If you put a list of criteria on the "perfect man" you'll be alone a long time. You should want someone who is sincere, loving, can communicate his needs and takes care of yours..period. Don't get caught up in whether or not someone is a sell out. Just enjoy life, find someone to call your own.

- She is not a sellout. The color of a girl's skin shouldn't dictate who she can date. Tell her to date whoever it is that makes her happy, be they black, white or green. :)
- It is about time the black women retaliated against the double standard. It appears it is all right for black men to date and marry white women. Lets do a little simple math. There are 100 black men and 100 black women. If black marries black then everything evens out. Now lets say that 20 black men marry white women. That leaves how many black women with no prospects? What are they supposed to do, be old maids?
- Well, for your friends...isn't normal for 2 people to be attracted to each other regardless of color? they need to check their own biases/predjuidice. Your friend needs to realize that being with a man that's racist (can't stand black men) is useless considering it will most likely not lead to a long term relationship. Will his views change about black men if they marry and have a son? As a black woman that has dated most races, I think its important to be self assured in who you are as a person so that when people call you a "sellout", you know who you are and apparently those that judge you don't. I date white men out of preference and I get stares from whites and blacks alike. Unfortunately the norms of society are slow to change, it was not too long ago that an interracial couple would be arrested if they married. Tell your friend date whoever makes her feel like a princess and not to settle, the goal should be a healthy relationship not matter what.
- Back in the early 90s a movie named "Jungle Fever" was released. It was about a black man and a white woman dating. Ever since then I have noticed many black men/white women relationships. I haven't heard anyone saying that it isn't normal. Now when a white man and a black wowan are dating, and you say there are people saying it isn't normal. I've even heard of black men preffering white women. What's the black woman to do? She should ignore the haters and folllow her heart.
- no if she knows who she is and doesn't try to be like anyone else she's not a sellout, if they're real friends they will say if she's happy & comfortable with herself and whoever she dates its fine, race doesn't matter if ur attracted to someone & personality, spirit, who the person is more important anyways....i went thru a time when i dated mostly black guys and was called a sellout and worse names but alot are more open minded being themself, less conceaded than some white guys i've met.....maybe she likes the possessive nature of italian men or the physical features, nothin wrong with that we all have prefrences and drawn to certain things about people
