- I do remember reading about something called 'mammone' where Italian men stay living at home well after growing up, their mothers still cook and clean and keep after them so they don't move out on their own. I don't think its a universal phenomenon but I guess its still fairly common. I don't know much about anything else that would be helpful, but here is an article I just looked up that mentions mammone, and there is some other stuff about Italian culture.
