Why Italy

Can anyone tell me how conservative a bride is supposed to look for a civil wedding in Rome, Italy?

My fiance and I are looking at eloping in Rome. I wanted a traditional wedding dress, something simple, strapless, etc. BUT I realized that though it would be a civil ceremony (not in a church; more likely at the courthouse/town hall) Italy may be a little more traditional and be offended by uncovered shoulders for such an important day. Does anyone have any insight? thanks...

  1. If you were going to be married at the Vatican or one of the churches, then you would be concerned about your uncovered shoulders. But since it is a civil ceremony, what you have chosen will be lovely and appropriate,it's your day, wear what you have planned and it will be great.....Have you been to Rome, Italy before? I've been there, it is awesome.....Best Wishes for your wedding and really enjoy the day and Italy......
  2. Best Wishes! Buy what you like it's your day. A strapless dress looks good with a beautiful soft wrap or shawl. GOD BLESS! AMEN! SHALOM!
  3. peacock...oh bride! i thought you said bird...um...peacock.
  4. There are so many beautiful places in Rome and you will be fine because it sounds like what you are wearing is elegant and tasteful. No one will be offended. Have a fantastic wedding and if you want a beautiful hotel stay at the Westin Excellsior it is bella, bella, bella. Buona Fortuna!!
