- Search Amazon for audio tapes (or CDs)--they are a good and fast way to learn a language. The more you listen, the faster you learn.
- try this website http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/italian/
- The best way to learn a foreign language, such as Italian, is to use language software. The best software available is Rosetta Stone. Check out their website: http://www.rosettastone.com/en/individuals/languages/italian
- Your public library should have Italian language courses on CD and audio tape. You can also do an inter-library loan (ask the librarian for help) to widen your choices or buy an Italian for travelers type CD/tape on-line or at your bookstore. Ask your mom and nonna to teach you words whenever you're together. You can learn a lot while cooking dinner, setting the table, shopping, etc.
- You're cutting it a bit short and left it a bit late I think... 2 months is very little time to learn such a complex language, even if it's just the few basics needed to get you around!!! For the short time you have available, firstly, I suggest you get hold of a simple conversational dictionary (the type many turists use for basic easy sentence translations). Then, watch some favoured films, already well known to you, on DVD and use the language and subtitle options in Italian. If your mum and dad know Italian, pester them into teaching you essential words and pronounciations for you to practice. Get hold of some Italian songs and listen to those over and over....also, you could join up and take a short language course if possible.... To be quite honest, in the short time you have at your disposal, I don't think web sites in general will be much use to you since they all require the ability to write in Italian to understand it, let alone speak it, but if that's the way you want to go, then you could also search for help in the Italian section of Yahoo Answers! Hope it all helps but whatever way you decide, I'm sure you'll have great fun in Italy anyway! ;)))
- If you can't attend a course then the best best is a language software course. This is how I started learning Italian and am now fluent and have moved to Italy. They are very good and within a month you will be speaking - if you put in the effort.
