Interracial dating: Do Italian women date Black men?

I have heard the rumor that italians especially Sicilians are racist towards Blacks in dating. Although, whenever I view the personals, I always see Italain women looking for Black men. Therefore if you are Italian can you recall if your parents told you to avoid dating Blacks? Thanks

4. I am 32. My dad was racist and didn't want us dating blacks.. My mother didn't care as a black doctor helped her get status when she came to Canada. I have four older sisters and they all married blacks. I was born in Italy and only dated one black man in my life but ended up with a French man. Depends on the family and how old fashioned they are. I think a lot of black men are attracted to Italian women though. Black men hit on me all the time.
5. It is a cultural thing. Some Italian American men like black women. Robert Denero is one that I can think of right now. In Sicily, a white woman with a black man would never do. They would either have to get out of Sicily or one or the other would be dealt with severely.

7. I'm half siccilian, my parents never directly told me not to date black, but I did and do anyway. They know I'm hard hard headed, rebellious and like to push buttons (guess that's the italian side in me. Nevertheless, I have dated all types of men. They were all wonderful.My parents won't approve but hey I just tell them to f-uc-k off and and told my dad that he should have put a rubber to avoid having a daughter like myself.
8. Are you talking about Italian-Americans or Italians that live in Italy? I've been living in Italy awile, and have seen a lot of Italian men with Black/African women and vice versa. Some people are racist and some are not. It depends more on the individual person and on personal taste. Plus, if an Italian guy really likes a girl (say a Black one) but his parents don't approve, do you really think he's not going to go out with her because his Mommy and Daddy said so??
9. well hell yes, back in the days, it was forbidden, Some parents disowned us. As we got older and bolder and lived on our own, we bacame our own person inspite of what our parents said or thought, that is if you are a strong Italian women who thinks for her self. It was a embarrassement to the family to date blk back in the days. Now they dis own them lol Italian women are the best lovers.. ask any blk man who has experience with them
10. No way, we are not racists. My parents never cared who I dated, Just as long as he treated me right. But I can see where you get the idea from movies like A Bronx tale or jungle fever. Us Sicilians have black in us anyways. and If we were to act that way back in the day, It must have been because of society and how we were compared to blacks and therefore trying to move are selves up or away from being black. The sad truth is that many Italian/Sicilians don't know or deny that we have any black blood in us, when it is obvious.
11. Sicilians oppose mixing with blacks here in the US because they want to be accepted by the majority of the dominant white Anglo Saxon society. They would like to marry up like other minority groups. In fact, Italians have not yet been fully accepted as white by the Anglo-Saxons. We have never had an Italian-American President and chances are pretty slim that we will have one in the near future. Congressman Tom Tancredo's (R-CO) innuendos against all immigrants, and especially Hispanics is to appeal to the predominantly anti-Hispanic and anti-Asian Anglo Saxon white flight constituents in the Colorado Sixth District.

13. Yes, I'm Italian and my parents would have never allowed me to date a black man. I also wouldn't want to date a black man. I prefer to have someone match me as much as possible in background, race, religion, nationality, values, interests, etc. The more in common, the better a relationship is.
14. HEY? love happens when it happens!!!... I don´t see why they cannot date?? racist people are all over the world, but what Is really important for me is never to date a prejudice person, a person with no believes, and unscrupulous...and....I don´t see any color of the skin in there!!!
