Bridesmaid, recently single, 28, wedding in Italy, date dilemma!!!? One of my best friends is getting married in Italy this july 09, I am going to be a bridesmaid and am honored to be asked. I am originally from ireland (as is the bride) but now live in NY. I have never been a bridesmaid before so have no idea what to do! Any suggestions? Will I be busy enough not to feel odd being on my own or should I ask someone who doesn't mind forking over big cash or hanging out on their own! Why does a ticket to Rome (or Milan) cost significantly more than a ticket to Berlin, Frankfurt or Paris when all flights are about the same distance? But this is the only date left with them though that isn't in mid summer. They have limited trips during the year (only about twelve...) And the two September ones (20th and 27th) are gone, as have the May and June ones... So we are left with the July and August ones only. I don't want it to be TOO hot. France to Italy by Rail? I need some assistance before I buy my ticket, please. I will have a full Eurrail Pass. I am trying to leave the Provence area of France (Avignon or Nice?) and get to Italy (whatever's closest: Siena, Florence, Milan, Rome, whatever). A night train is acceptable. The travel date around May 24th, a Saturday, 2008. What are my options? Is this doable, or do I need to rearrange travel plans? I've checked the numerous rail websites and I am just getting more and more confused. Rick Steves suggests going from the Provence area of France to Cinque Terre or further into Italy, but he doesn't advise which routes to take.

Visas and flights to italy.? I am travelling to Italy as an au pair. The job is for one year but i don't know exactly what date i will be returning. Should i buy a return ticket or a one-way? My only concern for one-way is with customs not accepting my plan. And what Visa is appropriate?

How can a visitor to Canada obtain a airport transit visa through italy i.e. Lagos, Nigeria via Milan, Italy. I am permanent resident of Canada. I'm Nigerian, and my mother-in-law has been visiting me in Canada from Nigeria. She will be returning to Nigeria, so I bought a ticket to Lagos, that stops over in Milan, Italy. I did not think it would be a hassle to obtain a airport transit visa. We have called the Italian embassy in Edmonton (and Ottawa) and we were told they only give transit visas to residents of Canada (residents/citizens of Canada do not not even require such visas), and that we had better try and book another flight via the UK. We are at loss for what to do, because, this ticket cost over $1000 and we can't afford to lose it. By the way, it's a fixed, date, time etc ticket.
