Italian Food Cravings during Pregnancy?? I was reading that cravings during pregnancy mean that you are lacking something in your diet. Is this a true fact? Or just what people THINK? Well, with my first daughter all I craved was toast, pickles, crushed ice & calamari. This is my 2nd pregnancy and it seems like the only thing I am craving is Italian food! Spagetti & Meatballs, Chicken Parmigiana, EGGPLANT Parmigiana (which is something I've always HATED normally), Fettucini Alfredo, Salad with Italian dressing & especially PIZZA! Also a few pickles here and there, lol. I think those come in almost every pregnancy anyway! So what could i be missing if thats the only thing I really crave is ALL ITALIAN FOOD!??? Oh ya & I went to Subway the other day and had to get an Italian sub with Italian dressing! I've always liked italian food, but only once in a blue moon...the carbs would kill me! But this pregnancy that is the ONLY thing that EVER sounds good.... Jenna - I'm part cuban and in our house I've always usually cooked cuban dishes. Now...any cuban dish just grosses me out! YUCK! Really...it's bad. Pizza is the absolute BEST! I even went to the grocery store and bought frozen pizza's! lol. Sies man it was hot ek se, 45 degrees and humid as hell, with mosquitoes too- felt like being in Durban!!!! Okay, why is Italian food in Italy so unlike Italian food anywhere else? I mean, the basic recipes are quite simple but the taste is amazing- far better than the kak they serve up in Italian restaurants that I have been to in SA or in the UK? The ice-cream was "divine". The only negative.- those dudes have a serious attitude problem, I mean they are seriously rude man! PS. I have now found out where SA taxi drivers must go when they die, whoever let Italians drive must not have liked them very much or perhaps it is their method of population control seeing as the Pope does not condone contraception! Anyway good to be back on virtual SA!!!!! I noticed that real Italian food is very different to ristorante food elsewhere, pasta is a starter on a small plate, sorbetta is between courses and not a desert and the pizzas are really thin!!!!!

Italian Food Question...? When I lived in West Hartford with an Italian family, they would go to the Italian bakery and buy these things "they" called orangina. Not the soda drink, orangina. It was ground beef, I think, in the center. Then it was covered in rice. Kind of resembled a large egg, with the meat being the yolk. Then it was coated in a fine orange bread crumb of some sort. It was delicious, but have no idea what the real name of this food is, or where I can get a recipe.
