In Italian culture, will man try to pay the bill for a female friend ? ? Hello! I'm planning my first trip to Italy this March to visit my pen-friend. As for the trip, he is suggesting that he will guide me there, and I'm happy for that. However, I little worry about monetary issues (such as restaurant bill, gas charge...etc). Can I just take advantage of his kindness ? or Should I give a certain amount of money beforehand(but this is too polite, isn't this)? Does a guy offer "Dutch treat" to a female friend without hesitating? ( I heard Italian guys like a show ) : D Although he has a decent job and is older than me, I don't want to bother him. Can anyone who is familiar to Italian culture answer my question ? Thank you :)

What do you think about Italian Americans? I'll post this in English or else it will get deleted. In my experience, Italian Americans don't speak Italian, cook terrible Italian food and are obsessed with the negative portrayals of the lowest aspects of Italian culture, i.e. the Sopranos etc. Okay it was a great series, I have Italian family, I found it funny but I wouldn't want to emulate those people.......! Has anyone else experienced this with so-called Italian Americans?

If I am hired, I will learn and acquire all the skills and knowledge required for the job ASAP and do my best to make a contribution to this company. As for Italian, I studied the language at university and used it on a daily basis at an Italian company I worked for. Although I have not spoken Italian for more than 10 years now, I started studying it from the day I sent my resume to you and will continue doing in order to do my job properly. I would appreciate it if you could give positive consideratin to hire me." I meant "continue doing so (continue studying Italian)"
