Me and my gf want to spend Fri+Sat in London and leave London Sunday morning, the 6th to see the 3 other cities. We want to see the Venice Italy, Prague Czech Republic and Nice France. In what order should we travel, how many days should we stay in each city and what is the best method to go from each city to another? (I would like 3 days and 2 nights in Nice b/c Monaco and Cannes would be nice day trips). Also I must leave London on Sun. April 15. what is the best place to stay in Venice Italy? I'm traveling there in Sept and looking for a cool inexpensive place to stay any suggestions?
Poveglia, Italy, the most haunted place in the world? I couldn't believe I haven't even heard of this place until today!?!?! I am travelling to Italy (Venice, Florence, Pisa and Rome) and during my research online, came across this website describing Italy as one of the most haunted places in the world? The more I read about Poveglia, the more I imagine it as something out of a real ghost story. Is it true though, these ghost stories? Or simple something made up by people? Anybody heard/been to/had experiences with Poveglia before in their life? Sorry if I offended anyone, I did not intend on it, I just read on a website, that described the horrible history the place had, and how it is now closed off to tourists. But maybe these reports have more of a ring of fiction than truth to it.

What else should I know about Italy? Well, I have a report dew tommorow. It is about Italy. Your supposed to write a "letter" to your friend. This is what I have so far: "Dear Jenny, Ciao! I am here, in Italy! It is such a beautiful place. Today, I visited Rome, the capital of Italy. It is about 43 degrees north latitude, and 13 degrees west longitude. Rome is one of the oldest cities in Italy. There is so much history that I need to learn! Yesterday, I was in Venice, Italy. In Venice, they travel by boat, since it is surrounded by water. And all the houses in Venice are built on the water! It’s so different than Illinois. I saw the Leaning tower of Pisa. Did you know that the tower of Pisa tilts about 15 ft? I took a train ride around the Alps Mountains, and I saw a lot of hawks! Most of the people are Catholics. They celebrate Christmas and Easter. Italians like to eat pork, fish, pasta and wine. Their favorite sport is soccer." I don't know anything else. So, should I include more?
In Italy, can I buy a travel/discount pass that covers trams, metros and intercity travel? I am traveling with my family to Italy from May 24th to May 29th. We plan to cover Rome, Florence and Venice. Hence our travel will include Tram/Metro travel within these cities as well as intercity train travel between Rome - Florence and Florence - Venice. Are there any travel/discount passes available that I should buy, which can make my travel cheaper? Or should I just buy tickets individually everytime I travel.
Traveling in Florence Italy and then to Rome, Venice,Paris, & Barcellona? I have a eurail pass, I can use 5 times. I will be booking overnight travel to Paris and Barcelona. Does anyone have advice on what to do with my luggage, so I don't have to haul it around all day until our train is ready. Another thing if anyone has traveled to Italy, Spain & france, any suggestions you may have for hostels, hotels, etc... (I will leave from Barcelona and will be there the longest.)

Are there trains from Barcelona, Spain to Venice, Italy? (see question for more info)? I'd like to see if I can travel by train from Barcelona, Spain to Venice, Italy. From my searching, I am assuming there are no trains that go to Venice direct from Barcelona, so how can we get from Barcelona to Venice via train? (I have looked at travelling on an airplane, but I'd like to know about going on trains) Thanks! Another question: What destinations can you get to if you take a train from Barcelona's train station?
Can anyone recommend a reputable tour company in Italy for my upcoming vacation in Rome, Venice, and Florence? Traveling to Italy mid-March 2007 - 3 days in Rome, 2 days in Venice, 2 days in Florence and would like to start booking tours but am having a difficult time deciding on which tour "company" to book with. I'd like to stick with the same company for booking tours in all 3 locations in Italy if possible.
I wanna use Eurail, is it that I can travel within the same country too, like in Italy(Rome-Florence-Venice)?? I'm a gal who travel solo in EU, but I'm not sure how to use Eurail even after I read it for many many times, need help!!!! Thanks.
Travel passes for Italy? I am planning to visit Italy as a tourist. My plan includes staying in Rome. Then travelling to Pisa and then finally travel to Venice from Pisa. As you can understand this would involve a lot of travel within the cities (by either bus or Metro) and also intercity travels, preferrably by Trains. Can you please suggest if there is any all inclusive travel pass that i can use for this purpose. I am aware of a Euro rail pass, but that is not the kind of thing i am looking for. I need one combined pass that would enable me to trabvel both within city as well as intercity. I have travelled in Switzerland and have used a pass like this. It is normally valid for 4 days and enables you to travel all kinds of transport. There is also a discount in special transport tickets in site seeing location. Any help in this regard will be highly appreciated.
Going to Cannes in March...should I also go to Italy (Venice, Florence, Rome) or France and London? My sister and I have a 4 night stay pre-booked for Cannes from March 20-24 (she's 30, I'm 25). We have til March 31 to explore another place in Europe (about 7 add'l days). We were planning to take the train and do a country-wide tour of Italy, hitting Venice, Florence, and Rome (each for about 2 nights, on our own- no tour groups). Now, we're wondering if it would be better to do a trip through France instead, with a stop in London. Is there anything of interest in cities outside of Paris? My thinking is we may not go to that area of Europe for a while, so it'd be good to take this chance to visit Italy. It's more likely we'll get to London/Paris before we can go to Italy (I've been to London before, sis hasn't). What's a better itinerary, taking in traveling time/mode/costs? Is anything going on in Italy or France in the end of March that will make it worth a visit? We can also arrive in one airport and depart from another. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
Is it safe for a 20 year old American woman to travel by train (by herself) in Italy? I'm going to Italy and really want to go to Verona or Milan, (but the closest I'm getting is Venice, so I want to take a train there for a day trip.....) Is it safe for me to travel by myself not only by train but around Italy as well? I know Italy isn't totally crime ridden, I'd just prefer to be safe than sorry.

Question about train travel in Italy? My fiance and I will be travelling to Italy for our Honeymoon in June. We will be travelling from Rome to Florence, Florence to Venice, Venice to Sorrento and Sorrento to Rome, all on different days. We have looked into getting a EuroRail supersaver pass that entitles us to 3 days of unlimited travel, also purchasing an extra day. Altogether this will run about $450. Is this the best, most cost effective way to travel? Their website is difficult to understand, do we still need to pay extra for tickets? How do we know if we need reservations?
What is the cheapest/easiest way to travel throughout Italy? Specifically, I will be in Rome for a few days and am looking to travel up to Venice (through Tuscany) within one week w/ a stop or two in btwn. I've been on trenitalia.com and it's not helping. The only thing I see is a "3 in 2 months" pass, but it's $160 per person! Ideally I'd love a week pass to use freely with a stop or 2 in btwn Rome & Venice. We check out of Rome on 4/21 and have a hotel in Venice starting 4/25. Any suggestions!? THANKS MUCH! the two answers i got so far aren't what i was asking. i was hoping for some specifics... actual train passes etc. THANKS SCOTT K! thank you martina l, saretta80 & lordgab17!! keep the advice coming :) i did notice that the "flexible" passes are more expensive, but maybe because i'm looking at the "nicer" trains. if anyone has any suggestions on where else to stop in tuscany, i'd welcome those too!
I am from the U.S. and would like to travel to Italy - is 2/3 days enough time in each city...? There are many tours in Italy: 2 (days) Venice, 2 Florence, 2 Rome 3 Rome, 3 Florence, 2 Venice 2 Venice, 2 Florence, 3 Rome, 2 Sorrento My question: is that enough time to spend in each place? I don't want to spend all of this money just to be rushed around. Or do you recommend staying in a different city for a longer period of time? We are not normally sight-seers, but would like to experience the culture.

Travel to Italy for Holidays? Hi! I'm planning to go Italy for holidays during December. I only have about 2 weeks to spend so currently, Rome, Florence, Pisa, Venice and Milan are on my list of city-hopping. Are these cities are good enough to get a good feel for Italy? Also, i know it's going to be winter in December. Are most attractions and shops gonna be closed? Is it going to be too cold to do anything at all? Thanks people!
What bits of Venice (Italy) are open on Sunday- sights as well as shopping? We get in Saturday after lunch and have till Sunday tea-time so we'll need to divide what we do according to what we can actually do on Sunday. Any ideas about where quality (not DESIGNER!) woollens, coats will be available. We'll be travelling mid-October so stores ought to stock them by then.
Italy Questions...Venice and Bologna? I have to be in Milan in May for a tradeshow. I am taking four days off before to do some sightseeing with a friend and travel by train. Originally I was going to spend all for nights in Venice, but someone told me that four nights might be too much time. So, I wanted to break it up and I was thinking of Bologna. Has anyone been there? I heard it is a fantastic "foodie" locale and very quaint. Is it worth going? Or, any ideas of other places I could go? And should I do Venice or Bologna first before going to Milan?
Driving and parking in Italy - Rome, Florence, Venice? Hi, I will be travelling with a baby and I was thinking of driving around in Italy - Rome, Florence, Venice. I am not sure yet if I'd go to Florence and Venice but Rome for sure. 1) Does it cost a lot to park and are there lots of parking lots available? I know for sure for a 4 day rental it cost 200 E so that's not so bad as taking a taxi from Airport already cost 50E one way. 2) is it easy to drive around in Rome/Florence/Venice? 3) How many hours journey should I expect it to be between these three cities? Thanks
