When applying for Travel Visa to Italy is email printout of online hotel booking enough proof of accomadation? I booked for a hotel online through an online travel website and received email confirmation of booking. So would printing out the email be enough for application of a 10-Day travel Visa?
What are the best travel agencies/guides for two teens traveling to england, france, and italy alone? Help!!!? Ok, I'm 18 years old and my cousin is 16. We're planning on going to Europe this summer from july to august for a month. England-about 10 days, Italy- about 10 days, and France- about 10 days (may change depending on whether we'd rather stay in one country longer). We're going to travel from one country to another by train. We've never traveled outside the U.S. by ourselves and we need a lot of help. What do you suggest we do? I dont want to go on a rigid tour, I'd rather just get a good travel agent for some guidance but I don't know where to find one. I went on tripology but they said they couldn't find one for us which I find hard to believe...I'm going to read some travel books hopefully that helps too (I've heard that the "Let's Go" series is the best for young adults) PLEASE HELP!! ANY ADVICE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! =)))) thanks a lot!!
Has Anyone used Gate1 Travel to book a trip/tour to Italy? My Husband and I have been looking at using Gate1 just because the prices are pretty good for doing a 10-14 day tour of Italy. We want Rome, Venice and Florence. We'd like to do a few "tour group" things, but we want to be on our own as well since it's our honeymoon. Has anyone used them, what was your experiance like- were they a reputable company?

What is the least expensive time of year to fly from Florida to Italy? I would prefer to fly roundtrip from Tampa to either Rome or Pisa as my final destination would be Cortona, Tuscany. I'm looking for the least expensive time of year to fly (obviously NOT summer). Would airfare between the U.S. and Italy be higher on Thanksgiving week than early Nov. or early Dec.? Also would I save much money by booking to London on a major carrier and flying Ryanair or Easyjet between London and Italy? Another possibility--Globespan flies between Orlando Sanford and Glasgow, Scotland (Glasgow International). Ryanair flies between Glasgow Prestwick (different airport) and Pisa. Is it feasible to travel between Glasgow International and Prestwick and if I went this route would it be significantly less expensive than booking on a major carrier round trip to Rome or Pisa?

Like maybe booking a flight to another area for less, and taking a train or bus. Please let me know what ways you have traveled overseas, and who you used to do so, such as Continental, or Hotwire, etc. Thanks!
What are some good books or websites focused on Italian *culture* and customs? Specifically on Venice, but any books on Italy in general would be really great. I went to my local Barnes & Nobles and could only find travel guides. Keep in mind I'm looking for something to read, not to research, so textbooks on Italian history is not what I'm looking for.
Hello, I work in a travel agency in Italy. A customer wants a trip to the HarryPotter locations (castle, etc). Do you know if agencies/tour operator there offer the whole thing? (hotel, tour, guide)? Or else I might book flights and hotel, but I still need to know how to reach the location and if a guide is available. Thanks a lot to anyone willing to help :) Have a nice Sunday

Does anyone know a good Rome travel agent? I am looking for a top-notch travel agent who is very experienced with booking trips to Rome, Italy to help me with my plans. My group size will be anywhere from 10 to 50 people. I would prefer someone who works in an American Express Travel Services office, but this is not a necessity. The agent will mainly be responsible for setting up flights and hotels. Schedules for each individual or couple will vary, but they will all be there over at least a certain 5-day period. Please do not suggest names of people who have limited experience. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Find accommodations in Italy on the fly? A girl friend and I will be traveling to Italy in August 2007 for a week and we want to see places between Veniza and Rome. I've been 30 years ago and just drove into a town and found a room in a guest house or Zimmer, she is the type that wants to book all her accomodations ahead of time. Is it still possible to find good lodging in family run guest homes in most towns, that is acceptable as far as clean and resonable, especially if your from the US?
How much does it cost to travel around Europe? My partner and I wish to travel Europe in 2008 for a period of 2 months. We want to travel to a number of countries UK, Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Greece, Switzerland and Belgium. We were hoping to book all of our accommodation before we go, we're looking to stay in low budget accommodation and travel by train between each of our destinations. If any one can give me some info on an around-about price range excluding flights it would be very much appreciated. Alternatively I would be open to any other suggestions on accommodation or travel between cities. Thank you...

I am looking for a family friendly trip to Italy? I have 4 children, ages 17, 14, 13, and 10. We will be traveling spring, '08. Is this a good time to go to Italy? Should we book a trip with a travel agency, like a guided tour, or is there a better way to book things separately, like a "do it at your own pace?" I do not want to be overbooked like the guided tours tend to be, with having so many kids, but I do want to see at least Rome, Florence, Venice, and Capri, or some ocean. I am worried that we could not do it on our own, without the help of a guided tour. But the tours tend to be so fast paced, and boring. I want this to be an amazing trip, that we will never forget. And fun yet educational for the kids. Thank you for your answers to anyone who has done a trip like this!
I will be traveling to Italy for 8 days. Any ideas how to spend the day? I want to book city tours without the flight because I've booked the flight. I live in the Netherlands and will go in Feb. I prefer to book the tour before hand, but the chance is small. What to do? Can someone give me names of good Italian tour operator?
How can I get children intersted in traveling? We will be taking a family trip to Spain and Italy next year, and all members of our family are over 21 now, except for my two brothers, who are 7 and 11. How can we get them excited and interested about this vacation? Are there any good travel books, websites, etc. that are geared toward children? Is there anything in Spain or Italy that would be of particular interest to younger boys?
Do train stations in Italy take credit cards and are internet cafes still popular? I'm going to travel by train in Belgium and Italy and just wondering if I can pay with a credit card? I didn't book my tickets on line so I can decide on the spot where to go next. Also, I know that there are many places with wifi available, but are there still internet cafes with computers around? I'll be in cities, mainly. I thank each one of you for your answers and your time. You are a wonderful, helpful community!
Italy, which place to visit and what do I need to know? I want to go to Italy and am curious which city offers the most tourist attractions or is tourist friendly, any suggestions they are appreciated. I have read up on websites/books how a day typically goes there, but I would like more info from anyone who has visited/lived there what to expect or anything crucial people here think I need to know. What is the best place to get the travel insurance from and how much does this cost? What about Perillo tours, is this company a good one? Another called efcollegebreak I think, anyone traveled with them? Thanks ahead of time for any information you can give me.
How do you order tap water in Italy? In Paris, I found that I could save 5-7 Euro per meal simply by ordering tap water instead of bottled. The problem was, no travel guide or phrase book ever seems to include this handy tip...I simply started copying the locals I overheard ordering a "carafe d'eau." If you stop off at a cafe or casual restaurant in Italy, what is the correct phrase to order plain ol' water? EDIT: I realize now the issue isn't as black & white as I thought it might...Thank you all for your answers. I'll leave the "best" answer up to a vote, but all were very helpful.
Advice for travel to Italy? I am traveling to Italy this spring and i would love some advice about what to know and expect. Anything about culture, etiquette, good resources for history, and what artists' works are prevalent so I can read up on them before I go. Please don't just google and paste a website link, I can do that. I am looking for books, videos, or really good websites you personally recommend. Thanks in advance for helping me not be an ugly American tourist! =] I am going with a tour group, so I already have plans about destinations. We are going to Rome, Venice, Capri, Asisi, Pompeii, and I believe Florence. I just need help with backgroud info about these areas.

Booking a flight to Italy round trip for 2 months in July. How long ahead of time is good to book the flight? I have heard 2-3 months and when I look up tickets 2-3 months from now to Italy they are significantly cheaper than ones 6 months from now when I am traveling. Is this because its an off season or is it better to wait until its 2-3 months before the date to book the flight? Any recommendations for travel sites or airlines are welcome.

Planning to travel to Italy? My husband and I are planning to go to Italy next JAN or FEB with another couple. I was wondering if you knew any affordable travel sites for self drive vacations. Last yr we went to Ireland w/ air, car and b &B's for one week was about $700 a person. I was hoping to find something around that price range. I've looked on all the regular sites (travelocity, expedia, priceline, etc) and they don't really have what I'm looking for. Air, and lodging (either b & b's or hotel or whatever) and I don't know about a car b/c someone said its real easy to get around with the train. So I don't know if we should forget the car altogether or rent a car. I guess I'm looking for any advice and tips I can get. And how soon should I book? For Ireland we booked a yr in advance and I'd like to do that this time, but only if I find a good deal. Thanks so much!

Would a family of 4 traveling by train from Florence to Rome in Italy, need to pre-book? I am travelling from Florence to Rome by train on the 7th of September. Do I need to pre-book my trip or can I simply get my tickets just before departure?
Is anyone here Italian or familiar with Italy? I will be going to Italy in early September with two friends. We have already booked the flights and hotels: will be staying in Rome for 3 nights and Milan for 3 nights. My questions are: a) In your opinion, where are the best places to visit in Rome, Milan, Florence and Venice (we will be taking day trips from Milan) b)What is the best and cheapest way to travel from Rome to Milan? c)Any other tips? We're student so don't want to spend too much money. NB: We're from the UK
Why is Hungary such an invisible country? I once dated a guy from Hungary; I tried to read more about the culture & country at the time. so we could relate better... and it was weird how like every time I looked in the foreign travel and language book categories... Hungary was sort of skipped over... I would see every kind of book--- Italy, Spain, France, obscure countries in India and Asia...etc. except for ones about Hungary. Why is this? Why is it such a forgotten country in terms of travel and language? Is it because they weren't part of the EU until recently? Just wondering.
Are discout travel sites a good deal or a scam? I am booking my honeymoon to Florence, Italy and I want to save some money on airfaire. Are sites like bestfares.com worth it? Has anyone ever used it? They claim to save me ~$600, but will there be an awful catch at the end? These sites require a membership (thus a fee), so members get bulk buying benefits. This is different from sites like expedia, travelocity, or Orbitz.

I am planning on traveling next june of 2008 to pisa italy from Miami Florida and wondering how early should i book my tickets.....Also i would like to know why when i checked the price of tickets one night it was 1500 for 4 people on alitalia ( i checked to make sure it was 4 people ) and then a day or two later the price jumped to 6000 .... i would like to know if i should wait to book it and when should i. thank you ... 10 or whatever is the most points to the best answer !!!!

Are European based airlines as safe as US-based airlines? This summer I am going on a tour in Italy and my travel agent booked us on a non-stop flight on the Italian airline called Alitalia. Is this airline as safe as an American airline like US Air or United Airlines? Have they had more or less crashes and accidents?
while travelling in Europe, should you book hostels ahead of time or is it easy to find vacancies while there? I am travelling in France, Italy and Spain from July 17th to Agust 17th, i was wondering if i should book hostels ahead of time or can i wait and book the day i arrive to the city. The reason i am asking is becuase i want do not want a rigid schedule to go by and booking ahead of time will set time restraints. Any advice will b great.
I am looking for the name of a book? This was a delightful book about travel in Italy. The author suggested purposely getting lost in Rome on a rented motor scooter, also I remember him/her talking about the best pasta in all of Italy (therefore the world) and the resturante was called Mama Gina's in Florence. I don't remember much else about the book it's been many years since I read it. The title would be very much appreciated.
3 questions about travelling to Italy...? We are going this April! 1. I think we've decided that it's ok to just book our train tickets when we actually get there, so we have a little bit of freedom. Is this ok? 2. At one point we'll be traveling from Siena to Rome. I know there's no direct route on the train - best option? 3. I've read several times that Italians dress very well. Does this mean no jeans? What is suitable dress for travelling in Italy? Thank you!!
Why are flight to Italy so much? I need to book a flight with Continental from Houston to Rome for the summer. Why does a ticket to Rome (or Milan) cost significantly more than a ticket to Berlin, Frankfurt or Paris when all flights are about the same distance? Wouldn’t common sense dictate that the price of a ticket is basically based on the distance of the journey? Assuming that dates of travel, number of stops and airline are held constant. Excuse me, the proper title should be "Why do flights to Italy cost so much?" I have seen some bad answers to this question, so let me reiterate: 1) I MUST fly with Continental airlines. (I have a $1000 gift certificate) 2) If I were to call the airline, do you really think they would have an answer? If I asked a clerk at the grocery store "why does milk cost so much?" The answer would be "I don't know."
Need help planning a trip to Italy.? My husband and I and another couple are planning a trip to Italy for Jan or Feb of '09. Since I just had a baby last Mar and he'll be almost 2, I didn't want to leave him for an extremely long time. So we were thinking either 7 or 10 days. We haven't decided that much yet. And i was thinking it'd probably only be wise to visit two cities/towns. We wanted to do Rome, Tuscany, and Venice. But seeing as we will only be there aobut a week, it seems more practical to only go to two places. Since we will also have to catch a train or something to travel between cities. Or would you recommend a car? I really need help deciding on where to go. I got a book about Italy but there is just so much in there, I don't even know where to start and I feel very overwhelmed with it. So any help or suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated. Oh yes, we are most interested in ancient Rome. So I am thinking Rome is a must. But couldn't decide between Tuscany area or Venice b/c Venice is expensive and we are on a somewhat tight budget.
Are European Airlines safe? This summer I am going on a tour in Italy and my travel agent booked us on a non-stop flight on the Italian airline called Alitalia. Is this airline as safe as an American airline like US Air or United Airlines? Have they had more or less crashes and accidents? How am I racist? Last I checked, most people in Europe are white, and so am I.
A trip to Ireland and Italy? My friend and I are highly interested in traveling to Ireland and Italy next summer. I am wondering if anyone can help me with any information on the best plane for online booking, places to stay. How to go about finding a place to stay. When would be the best time for book a flight? Where are some places we should most deffinately visit. Etc. Any information you may have to help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Also, what would be the best way to travel? Plain, bus, train? I live in Georgia of USA by the way.

Schengen visa requirement to France, Italy and Spain? Part II? I am applying for a Schengen visa via the french consulate. I am travelling to France (3 days), Italy (2 days) and Spain (2 days). Do i need to provide the embassy with the hotel confirmation for Italy and Spain as well. The chosen accommodation in Italy and Spain refuse to provide me with the information especially if it for visa application. Any ideas what i should do? Thankfully i only paid a deposit. Additional Details I am from Barbados (Caribbean) and i require a visa. My problem is that my friends and i booked a hostel and one person paid via credit card. The e-confirmation came of course with only one name. Thus the three of us technically have no proof of hotel confirmation.

I want to go to Italy...help? I want to apologize first...I did post this a little bit ago stupidly it was not in the ideal location. I want to go to italy for either vacation or for my honeymoon. I want to know things like: 1. What is the best way to plan a trip there? (ie, travel agency, or just buy the air tickets and book hotel on my own.) 2. Where do you think is the best place to stay there? (city, hotel...) 3. I have never been to Europe before-are all the hotels there like flop houses where you share a bathroom with 50 other people? 4. Will nice hotels be as costly as American Hotels? sorry my questions are pretty dumb...I've only planned a trip to mexico once and I stayed at a resort-I don't really know how that could compare to a European trip. also if you can give any other details or information I would love it! The more the better! Thanks!

i need help to translate this text in italian. please help me? It is time to bring lawrence’s travel books out from under the shadow of the fiction. Far from being just a supplement to the novels, each of the travel books can stand on its own as an independent and important work. Moreover, when read together, these books reveal a distinct pattern in lawrence’s spiritual autobiography: a search for eden that begins in the real world and progresses to the world of his own imagination. Writers of travel books can be separate into adventures, naturalists, esthetes , and etnologists. As a travel writer Lawrence belong among the ethnologists He consider the daily life of a people more important than the monuments and museum All of Lawrence travels books explore earlier modes of awareness. Twilight in Italy shows lawrence’s fruitless search for a culture in which both the creative and sensual sides of man’s nature remained active. Although initially attracted to what he called the Italians pan-conscousness, he soon realized that their preoccupation with the physical was just as limiting as the northern glorification of the mind. Gli scrittori di libri di viaggio possono essere separati in avventure, in naturalisti, esthetes and etnologists.
I want to plan a trip to Italy...what do you suggest? Thanks!
Euro train travel? I will be travelling between three countries in Europe; spain, france and italy. i would like to find out if anyone here knows any links, or has any experience travelling by train to and from these countries. Specifically i would like to know the names of the train stations from which the international trains depart from each country. Thank you. I cant seem to find any answers in books, or I dont know whether I am looking at the right things.
I have a friend in Lucca Italy who has over 4,200 tissue pks in his collection. Any other unusual collections? At least three times per year, I put together a box of assorted travel-size tissue packs (the ones that are 10 in a package) and send them to Italy. Some are found at Hallmark gift stores, while others are found at party supply stores and even book stores. There are all sorts of brands--not just Kleenex. In fact, it never occurred to me that other countries have their own assorted brands and designs. So the ones I send from the U.S. are but a small contribution to a really big and unusual collection from all over the world. If you would like to view it, you can find it at: http://www.silviofioravanti.it/fazzoletti.php. I was just wondering what other vast collections there are.
Any cheap accommodations in Italy, Greece, or England? i'm trying to get to italy (rome or tuscany but anywhere would be fine) Greece, or England (preferably london) somtime this summer. I'm on a budget so does anyone know of cheap accommodations/flights/travel packages? i'm looking for a more typical local expierence, not something i could read about in a tourist book. Any ideas???
Should I book a hostel in Italy and greece ahead of time, or is it easy to find a place in mid june-early july I don't want to be pressured for time when I'm travelling, so would it be too risky to not do any pre-booking? Is june/early july high season??
Best way to plan trip to Italy? I want to plan a trip to Italy next year and I know the places I want to go, things I want to do, but I don't know how to book it. I've never flown in a plane or even been overseas and this is my dream trip. Do I go through a travel agent or does that cost more money? If so, is it worth id? Would an escorted trip with a group of strangers be cheaper? What would be the best way to plan this and get most for my money? Any tips welcome! Thanks! Next year actually being 2009. Thought I should elaborate since we still have a few more hours until 2008!
Going to Cannes in March...should I also go to Italy (Venice, Florence, Rome) or France and London? My sister and I have a 4 night stay pre-booked for Cannes from March 20-24 (she's 30, I'm 25). We have til March 31 to explore another place in Europe (about 7 add'l days). We were planning to take the train and do a country-wide tour of Italy, hitting Venice, Florence, and Rome (each for about 2 nights, on our own- no tour groups). Now, we're wondering if it would be better to do a trip through France instead, with a stop in London. Is there anything of interest in cities outside of Paris? My thinking is we may not go to that area of Europe for a while, so it'd be good to take this chance to visit Italy. It's more likely we'll get to London/Paris before we can go to Italy (I've been to London before, sis hasn't). What's a better itinerary, taking in traveling time/mode/costs? Is anything going on in Italy or France in the end of March that will make it worth a visit? We can also arrive in one airport and depart from another. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
Backpack Europe with idiot in tow need ideas and guidance...? Right so the plan is I'm going on an odyssey around Europe and ultimately beyond for an indeterminate amount of time (budget roughly £10K) with a brainless companion. I'm going to go via rail, that much is certain, and stay in hostels in order to travel frugally. We're both under 25 so we could pick up some discounts... What are the best travel books to bring, Lonely Planet, Work Your way around the world? I'm from Jersey Channel Islands so the best and cheapest thing to do would be to catch a ferry to St Malo and then train down through France and I want to go roughly in a southernly direction to see Germany, Switzerland, Italy and then Greece. I'm debating the next step because myself and my buddy want to go to Morocco and/or Egypt so we thought we get a round the world ticket but catch a first flight from Southern Europe, ie Greece, and then continue onto Asia, Far East. etc What is the best and most enjoyable way of doing roughly what I have described?
if u were given a chance to travel..wer woud u go? y? me?! i would go to ROME-wanna see d architectural magnificence's i've always seen in tv and books.. BRAZIL/JAMAICA- the beaches TURKEY-parties there are awesome ITALY-the ambiance PHILIPPINES, camarines sur-water sports
Will somebody please look over my book report and check it for spelling/grammar? Book Report: Mary Shelley was born on August 30, 1797, in London, England. Her father, William Godwin, was a philosopher and writer, while her mother, Mary Wollenstonecraft Godwin was an author who was well-known for her feminist views. Mary Shelley received no formal education, but was taught at home by her father. As a child, she enjoyed writing, and at the age of fifteen she was sent to live in Scotland. In 1814 when she was seventeen, she eloped to France with poet Percy Bysse Shelley. They spent the summer of 1816 in Switzerland, and during this time she began writing Frankenstein. On March 11, 1818, Frankenstein was published anonymously, receiving mixed reviews. For the rest of her life, she wrote other books and traveled around Europe, living in Italy and England. In Shelley’s Frankenstein, Victor Frankenstein is an up-and-coming scientist who is passionate about alchemy. .He attempts to create a living being from inanimate objects, and when the experiment proves to be a success, shock and horror sets in. Frankenstein runs away, leaving the monster on the loose. He sits around for many years, trying to forget about his horrible mistake and hoping that he will never have to deal with it. However, the monster returns, seeking vengeance upon Frankenstein and all of his loved ones. Frankenstein attempts to regain control of his experiment, but tragically fails in the attempt. The setting of Frankenstein is in the eighteenth century all across Europe, and places where Shelley herself was familiar with. The Arctic, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, England, France, Scotland, and Ireland, are places in which parts of the book take place. The book begins with Robert Walton traveling towards the North Pole. The story then shifts to Victor, who was born in Switzerland, then moved to Germany, where the monster was created. Much of the novel then takes place in Geneva and the Swiss Alps. Frankenstein loses his brother William in Plainpalais. Victor seeks refuge in the village and valley of Chamounix. Then he stays at his house in Belrive. Victor encounters the monster on Montanvert. Most of the monster’s life is spent in Germany, since that is where he was created. He wanders around the woods and mountains of Europe to reach Geneva. Throughout the rest of the novel, Victor traces the monster around Europe, and the North Pole is the ending location. The main theme is the idea that ignorance is bliss. Shelley shows this theme especially when Victor says to Walton, “Learn from me . . . how dangerous is the acquirement of knowledge, and how much happier that man is who believes his native town to be the world, than he who aspires to become greater than his nature will allow.” During that time, not many people knew as much about anatomy, physiology, and alchemy as Victor did. Had Victor not had the knowledge of those studies, the horrible monster would not have been created. In that way, ignorance truly would have been bliss. I found this novel to be dry and boring. However, I did think the main theme was interesting. I have never read a book with a theme similar to that before. I do not recommend reading this book because the plot is too drawn out. Thanks in advance! =] and BY THE WAY: I did use spell check, but I might have accidentally typed "they" somewhere instead of "the". And technically, they is a word, so spell check doesn't catch that.. Just had to clear that up....
I want to go to Naples, Italy for 1 week.? Which way is the best to book a hotel there? through internet or travel agnet to select hotel?
